“Not as bad as the other reviews make out!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2010

After reading some of the reviews on here, we were concerned to say the least. We were expecting the Hammer House of Horrors and a complete dump... but since it only cost us £48 for two nights en suite B&B we realised that we would probably get what we paid for.

I wouldn't say we were "pleasantly" surprised but it was definitely better than we had expected after reading the terrible reviews on this site. Don't be fooled by the name, it's definitely not a hotel, more a Guest House.

The couple who run the place are in their 70's and were really welcoming and lovely. The room itself was quite small and a bit damp smelling but it was warm and clean. We had a TV/DVD with Freeview which is more than we got at the so called Boutique Hotel we stayed at last year (which cost us twice the amount!).

Breakfast was GORGEOUS. We had a choice of Kellogg's cereal's, a pot of tea, orange juice, as much toast as we could eat and then a huge Full English breakfast.

There is a little dog (Toby) there who was very yappy for about 2 minutes when we arrived but then became best friends with us after making a bit of a fuss of him.

The Harbour is right next to the Pleasure Beach but a real walk from the night life as it's down past the South Pier and took us about 40 minutes to walk the 2.5 miles to the Tower. So if you are going there for the nightlife, you will need a taxi, especially if you are in heels!! (you should see my blisters lol). Book private hire though as the Hackney Carriage's are not cheap! Cost us £6.50 to go 2 miles. Private hire was £4.

All in all, it's a far cry from the Ritz, but for the price, you get what you pay for. Recommended if only for the delicious breakfast!!

“Lovely, Caring & Friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2010

Please dont be put off by the reviews on here. I really wasnt expecting too much for £20, it was a last minute plan to go on a night out with friends that were staying nearby. I would definately class it as a 'B&B' not really a hotel. The owners were lovely and friendly, and gave me lots of advice about where to park and directions etc, I was pleasantly surprised at how clean it was, the room wasnt big but it was absolutely fine for what i needed. Bedlinen was clean, and no, there wasnt an en-suite but the loo was next door! I have stayed in some disgusting places in Blackpool but this was the nicest. It is an elderly couple that own it and they do have a little dog, but, it really was like staying at Grandma's, with the home comforts of lcd tv with freeview, kettle, tea & coffee and a nice welcome. And the little shih-tzu dog was NOT yapping or smelly! For the people leaving bad reviews I would say that wherever you stay in Blackpool - is not wonderful, and if you are looking for a Hilton type hotel, dont be paying £20 and expecting the world in return! At the end of the day, your room is just a base where you sleep and change - Unless you have gone just to sit inside the whole time!

“Next to the Pleasure Beach but not a pleasurable experience!”

If you want to sit with the scruffy owners and extras in the residents lounge then this is the hotel for you.
If you want to listen to a snappy dog then this is the hotel for you.
If you want to share the one bathroom with all and sundry then this is the hotel for you.
If you want to be eerily watched leaving and entering then this is the hotel for you.
If you want a good time then this is definitely not the hotel for you!!

“Abysmal”

My family and I have just returned from a weekend in Blackpool, staying at this hotel (and I use the term loosely). Firstly, we arrived to an empty guesthouse as my paperwork mentioned nothing about check in time being 2pm.

When the owners arrived back we went inside to be told that breakfast was off as the dining room was out of action but we could have cereal or toast in our rooms. Fab thanks. Why was I not informed of this when I made the booking? I don't want to eat my breakfast from my lap and nor does my 4 year old. We were offered no partial refund to take this into account.

The rooms were average, the stairs steep with loose carpet. The 'comfortable dry lounge where we can relax in style' was the family's sitting room complete with baby gate for the dog. Not atall welcoming for me and my family to sit in when its already occupied by the owners.

There are hundreds of hotels and guest houses in Blackpool, I am gutted I chose this one. NOT recommended in any way, shape or form.
