I stayed at the Alderely for 3 nights with my partner over the New Year period; we were in Blackpool visiting my family.
Overall it was a pleasant stay; Tony and Dee are both very nice people who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and the breakfast was good. Everything was very well cooked and as I am a bit fussy about the quality of sausages (I'm a bit sad!) found them very much to my liking. I would have liked to have been offered butter as opposed to the spread we were given, but then I cannot use that as a criticism as I didn't ask for butter.
The following isn't meant to be detrimental, but an observation and maybe for Tony and Dee to consider for the future. They had put all the tables together in the dining room for the Christmas period, but I would have preferred to have a choice of us sitting on our own. I did feel a bit uncomfortable as there were people there who stay long term who are all friends, relatives or whatever and we were all sat together. I'm not anti-social, but for my meals when in a hotel, I prefer to choose who I sit with.
The room was very clean and pleasant (in fact the whole place was spotless) with a lovely sea view. The bed was ok, though not overly comfortable. The shower room was small, but adequate with plenty of hot water. One suggestion is a shower screen instead of a curtain; it drove me mad wafting around whilst I was in the shower! Tony says they are upgrading the room for summer and putting in a new bed which I feel would be a good idea and maybe a shower screen?
On the day we were leaving we had a car disaster and not only did we get a puncture, but the blasted thing wouldn't move anyway! We asked if they had any jump leads and though they didn't they said we could go back in to wait for the AA and have a cup of tea if we wanted. They also offered to get some people together to try to push it to start. I felt this was very kind of them as they didn't have to offer anything.
I would recommend this hotel for anyone to stay in, as they do go out of their way to make you feel very welcome. It is in a very convenient setting for the Pleasure Beach with the added advantage of offering parking. The town centre is a short drive or tram ride away and the prices I feel are very reasonable for the service and environment.
