We landed in Blackpool after driving around its hideous road system for hours trying to find the right streets - past many, many grim looking places. It started to rain (again)
Just as our holiday spirit was beginning to be dampened, we found the Westfield, in a nice looking street containing a few hotels and some bucket and spade emporia.
"Looks decent," I said, and opened the gate. It got better. The owners, Joyce and Michael, met us at the door, offered to carry our bags, sort our car parking out and generally welcomed us like family.
The family room (The green room) was nicely decorated and immaculate. The beds were comfy and the ensuite quite modern. I had the best night's sleep I'd had in ages.
Upon finding out I was a vegetarian, Joyce said she'd go out and buy some veggie sausages for breakfast. (Breakfast was NICE.)
We even had a game of pool in the bar when we returned .....
The only thing I would warn against is eating at Pablo's fish and chip shop down the street. It was so depressing I could almost see the life being sucked out of us. Yuck, Blearghh and Ewww.
Plenty of other places to eat within walking distance though - the Westfield is over the road from the Sandcastle, 1 minute's walk to the Pleasure Beach and a brief stroll to the seafront.
We will certainly be going back to this lovely, friendly little hotel.
