“Disgusting & Rude!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2010

Well when we turned up at the hotel we had to wait about 20mins for the man to come and see to us. He also asked for payment but were 100% sure we had already paid on www.laterooms.com, ive read over the reviews and thinking this may be a scam? Were in contact with our bank about it now, and i would advise anyone else who had to make paym, ent when they got there to do the same!

He gave us our room key, didnt explain where it was or even offer a hand with our bags. We paid £49 for one night in a double room so we werent expecting 5* but the hotel was disgusting. We went to have a drink at the bar and i asked for a glass of Rose wine and a pint of Carling, i didnt think i was asking too much (apparently so)! I got served a warm bottle of blue WKD and a can of Carling from the managers fridge, not poured or anything then i asked how much they were and he had a think about it and said 'lets just call in 5pound so he clearly doesnt open the bar very often as we had to ask him to unlock the door and let us in the bar!!

The duvet covers didnt match, there was make up down the walls, the towels werent clean and there was dead insects on the bathroom floor (im still unsure how they got in there with our window not being able to open either). I then braved a shower, which made me feel dirtier, and went to shut the curtains afterwards so i could get changed and the curtain rail ended up hanging off the wall! I went and spoke to the manager at reception and there was another couple there complaining as there was a group of young lads next door throwing glass beer bottles out there window, the manager said to ignore it and move rooms!

I couldnt take it any longer, it was completley unhealthy the room and went to put a complaint in at reception AGAIN and asked for a full refund and the man started shouting right up in my face saying he had been working 13hrs that day, NOT MY PROBLEM?! He than started getting aggressive so me and my partner packed our stuff up and went to stay in the Lovely Hotel next door in a single room, but the room was bigger and the bathroom was too!

Overall was much nicer! Than 'The Roker "hotel"' I wouldnt recommend this person to my worst enemy!!

Absoloutly RANK!

“Weird hotel, strange decor, small rooms.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2010

Had to wait ages buzzing at the door & rang the telephone number twice before anyone answered & said he'd let us in. 5 minutes later, he appeared out of the darkness in the hallway & lead us to the "reception." What a weird hotel, like something out of a time warp & loads of nude statues around. there was a strange sweet musty smell & it was really dark, even with lights on. The owner seemed friendly but very nervous & disorganised, not realising we'd booked for 2 nights. He lead us up to the 2nd floor, room with a "sea view." Yes we had a sea view, but the windows were filthy. The bedroom again was very outdated & small. the furnishings left a lot to be desired & none of the bedding matched, also had a weird smell to it which made us question whether or not it was clean. Also the sheet didn't seem to fit the mattress properly as after sitting on the bed for a few minutes to unpack the sheet had started to come away.Bathroom was a good size, although shower was cold & there was no bath plug (my husband went to ask the man for one & after waiting about 15 minutes, went to tell him not to bother & found him sat in the lounge watching tv not looking for a plug at all as promised), so we ended up trying to wash as best we could with running water in the bath! Towels were dirty (luckily we'd brought our own.) There were tea & coffee making facilities but the kettle was so old & took so long to boil I gave up after te 1st attempt at a cuppa. TV in room was again ancient & kept freezing, so we gave up trying to watch anything after a while. The door to our room did not seem safe at all, it was made from really cheap, old flimsy wood & the lock was very stiff.
Breakfast after the first morning was ok, sausages were obviously cheap & would have liked a bit more orange juice. The second night I hardly slept as something was banging upstairs from 4am onwards in the wind (not sure if a window upstairs had been left open) Breakfast that morning was awful, the food tasted like it had been cooked in old fat. We couldn't eat it. I just had toast & my husband went to McDonalds when we went into blackpool later that day. There were signs of there beingan italian restaurant & bar downstairs, there was a menu in the entrance, but this did not seem to be open. however I would not have wished to pay to sit in there eating or drinking for my evening meal!
All in all, the hotel is in quite a good location for the pleasure beach etc & we didn't expect much for £70 between us for 2 nights midweek. We did just want somewhere to sleep for a couple of nights while we did some sighseeing. However, I do think more effort could be made in the cleanliness & effort that they put into running this hotel. & Please rip out those old carpets & tasteless nude statues!!

“Horrible Horrible Horrible!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 April 2010

Well, where do I start? I booked this hotel before reading the reviews on here and I have to admit I was a bit cautious when I finally did check out what people were saying about this 'hotel.' We went to Blackpool for the Easter bank holiday weekend and needless to say all we wanted was a place to crash after a long day exploring the sites. The Roma/Roker hotel is situated on the new south shore area of Blackpool (about 5 minutes from the entrance of Pleasure Beach) and although I was skeptical after reading what people were saying on this I decided to grit my teeth and hope things wern't going to be too bad. Oh how wrong!

Upon arriving at about 9pm we were greeted by an Italian man (who I presume was the owner) who took our details and confirmed them with the booking I had made (£59 for the night for 2 people.) Only problem was- he hadn't actually booked us in. To top this off he told me to place my debit card into a card reader so he could charge me again! Luckily I had withdrawn all of the money on my card so there was nothing there to take away. After a much heated discussion on why he had charged us but not booked us in, he said he would 'take our word for it' that we had booked and he let us have the keys to our room, but not before ordering me to call my bank so he could confirm that he had taken money out and added it to his funds! The room itself was bog standard and very dated. The bathroom was nice but the sleeping area was dirty and there was a greasy hair in the tea/coffee tray. The bed had a strange red stain on it and there were leaflets and brocures from 2004 inside the drawyers. The TV was tiny and wasn't even worth the bother trying to figure out how to use it. To top this off the hotel was crowded with rowdy tourists shouting long into the night. One even got locked out of his room (which was nexst to ours) and kept shouting obsceneties down the phone. He then kept knocking on our door trying to get in. Never have I felt afraid to stay in a hotel!

Needless to say we left early the next money after another encounter with the manager. He reminded us to call the bank otherwise he would charge us again (the cheek!.) The next day he called us and said he was sorry but he had booked us in but with the wrong surname so basically we went through all that trouble for nothing! O)h and by the way this hotel may be called the Roker but on the signs in the hotel it says Roma. Talk about lazyness. HORRIBLE place. AVOID!

“should of just slept in the car!”

now actually called the roker hotel

we arrived into the most freezing place ever. It smelt shocking, very weird pictures of half naked women hanging around. wasn't greated waited at reception a while the place was dead. was told despite being the only people there we would be given a room at the back as it was smaller and warmer. I just dread to think how cold the other must of been. no sea view. a grotty rooftop and rotting window fag ends everywhere.

room was so cold they gave us a small little heater as there was no heating on.
the heater was so noisy. had to use a hot water bottle and sleep in hoodys as well as pj's. we turned all the bed sheets and covers over as they had stains on them. didn't even want to use the shower as i felt i would become more dirty not clean. We hated the place that much we were tempted to pack up and leave in the middle of the night, very sleepless night as i couldnt settle and was so angry with the waste of money we had spent on the place.

BREAKFAST = con.
we took down our document to show we were intitled to a breakfast. After firstly been greeted by a child a lady in her nighty came down about 10 minutes later and said breakfast wouldnt be served as it was only us staying there, and explained they just offered breakfast free.

we packed up all our things imediatly and left found breakfast else where. looking back i didnt want to eat anything there anyway.

wouldnt stay there again what so ever. the car probably had more room, warmer and cleaner.
