My wife and I decided to go to Blackpool for 1 night away from the kids so booked for Bonfire Night (booked 3 weeks before and sent a deposit, was told they would phone or email me to confirm..............this never happened, I had to ring them!).
When we got to the Roker we were asked to pay the balance of the bill (usual practice) so we did. After we had paid we were then told he ws full so he had put us in "our sister hotel just 5 minutes away". We were also told we would have to come back to the Roker in the morning to get our breakfast - what a joke! Anyway we went to the 'sister hotel' and was greeted by a very friendly lady who told us to put our bags in our room and she would make us a coffee - very nice. The room was very cosy and the bed was very comfortable and it was in a very quiet area so we was quite pleased.
We told Linda (the owner of The Wingfield b&b) that we weren't so happy about having to go elsewhere for brekkie so she asked us to pop in and see the owner of the Roker to transfer all of our booking money to her and she would happily make us breakfast, We did this on the way past and he told us he couldn't do this as Linda charged more than he did. We told Linda this on our return - she informed us that she had only met this guy once (so much for sister hotel).
We paid £45 for the 1 night at the Roker, but he didn't give the Wingield this money, he gave her 1/2...........so in effect he actually got the other 1/2 for making us breakfast and we were there about 25 minutes.........quite unfair really. The breakfast we thought was ok, but I think he was quite unprofessional to take our booking if he didn't have any rooms for us and after reading the reviews I think we were better off in the Wingfield anyway.
