I stayed at this hotel for a lads weekend in July 2011. All in all the hotel was ideal for a group of lads but I wouldnt reccommend it for families - certainly not with young children.
Firstly I would say that the location was perfect - about a minutes walk from the promenade, two minutes to the tower and very close to the city centre. The majority of the nightclubs were about a five to ten minute walk away to the north.
The hotel was hardly the Ritz but for £25 a person B&B on a Saturday night in the Summer it far exceed my expectations. The room was basic but also clean and comfortable and I had a good nights sleep (having strolled in at 4am). The hotel was generally in decent condition - could have stayed there for a couple of days but maybe not a full week.
I booked the hotel in April and didnt have to pay a deposit - which was handy cos one or two dropped out. Just phoned up and cancelled a room no problem at all. If your looking for a hotel for large group of lads look no further. There were very few decent places which would accept large all male groups on Saturdays.
Upon arrival (about 3pm) the rooms were ready. We came back down for a few drinks and a few games of pool (free pool table - cans of fosters £2.50). The hotel staff were friendly talking to us giving us advice on places to go. Think the bar was 24 hour it was open all the time I was in there. When we were in there a few reps came in and sold us these VIP wristbands for £5 each - which were meant to save us money on nightclub entry. Do NOT buy these they were a waste of money none of the clubs accepted them.
Access was 24 hour which was handy. Breakfast was between 9am and 10am. A few of mymates couldnbt get up for it which was a shame as it was included in price. One fried bread, one bacon, one sausage, one egg, beans, pot of tea and rack of toast.. Was decent.
