“Terrible hotel in a good location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

We spent 1 night at the hotel in November....thankfully only one night! Upon arrival the receptionist(possibly also the owner) was far from welcoming. We went up to our room via the lift only to discover that you need to go up and down lots of stairs anyway to get to it as the lift only serves part of the hotel. So if you have problems carrying your bags or with stairs get them to help you - not that we were offered this.

The carpet in our room looked very new but hac clearly not been hoovered! It was covered in someone elses hair and all sorts of other things. The sheets on the bed looked clean but the blanket over them had dirty marks on it also.

The bathroom was dark and far from clean also. The ceiling tiles are all stained and one of ours was hanging off. The bath was covered again in someone elses hair and the floor, door and walls were all marked with various things. Revolting.

There was no lock on the bathroom door and infact it didnt even close. There is a handle but nothing to actually allow the door to stay even shut over!

The bed was comfy but with everything else that was wrong you really didnt want to spend too much time in it!

Breakfast was by far one of the worst i have ever seen. I tried various parts of the cooked option and found everything to be rubbery and very low quality.

If we had booked a double room for £35 a night i would have had the same problems but thought that you get what you pay for. This rear facing room was £80!!!

Room Tip: Ask to see your room before checking in and if you have the same problems - ask for another or for t...

“unexpected weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

We have just returned from our weekend at blackpool we arrived on 28th november and returned home on 30th November, what a shock we only booked hotel for location and to be able to be central for attractions but received so much more from this friendly hotel we did not expect such good customer service nothing was to much trouble, as a added bonus we experienced the fantastic entertainment on both evenings which was suitable for our son aged 8, please book this hotel if you want just a little bit more than bed and breakfast which I must add was fantastic it really set us up for the long and exhausting day ahead, been to blackpool several times so u normally only get what you pay for

Room Tip: book sea view if possible as fantastic view

“Worst hotel I have ever stayed in”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

We stayed at the Kensington last weekend as it was booked by friends. Lets start with the good things, the food was OK and the dining room very tastefully decorated, its a shame the rest of the hotel is not. Our room was dirty, hand marks all over the doors, room sloped one way, bathroom sloped opposite way. Carpet filthy I was frightened to walk on it without shoes. Bed not made on second morning. Cupboard between beds didn't have a door knob that matched. Paint flaking around windows. Television placed on cupboard next to bed so you would have been unable to watch it lying in bed if you had wanted to. Entertainment was of poor quality. Would I ever stay here again definately not, would I recommend it to anybody definately not. Nigel the waiter seemed to be under a lot of stress and was extremely rude. This hotel needs a good clean.

“Good position shame about the hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

Just come back from Blackpool 27th oct.11. I booked this hotel on internet, lovely owners but the rooms leave a lot to be desired, nothing like the pictures. We booked 3 rooms for 6 adults & 2 small children for 2 nights at a cost of £491.00 only 1 room had breakfast included which the couple didn't have because of not wanting to get up early, the lady owner would not let us transfer the breakfast to another room, so cannot rate the breaksfast as we were not prepared to pay £9.00 per head so we had fab b/fasts in Bells cafe behind the hotel.
Now to the rooms.... My daughter & myself + my 5 yr old grandaughter had room 50, I can say in all honesty I have never, in all my travels stayed in such a room of horrors. The floor slanted quite bad to the extent my 1yr old grt grandaughter could bearly walk on it, I had difficulty staying upright! the room was small with 2 double beds crammed into it, no bedside light (no room for 1) We kept painfully catching our iner thighs on the toilet seat which did not fit the toilet, the bathroom was so small I hit my head on the wall as I sat to use the loo the both of us caught our right upper arm on the rediculas bolt on the sliding door, the wardrobe door was hanging off, sorry I do not have anything good to say about this room.
The other double room was at the front of the hotel with a nice seaview, just enough room for a travel cot but nothing else! the chest of draws was falling apart.
The boys room a twin I didnt even want to go into. The bedding i.e. the sheets were clean but I was a little concerned no quilt but just a maroon heavy blanket which clearly didn't get changed after each guest, mine had a stain on it that looked like it needed to be washed.
On the plus side, although the rooms are bad (well the ones we stayed in) the hotel is in a good position between the central & south piers.
We decided to stay another 2 days but moved to another hotel.

Room Tip: Dont let them put u in room 50. & have b/fast in a cafe much better value

“NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN, A DISGUSTING EXPERIENCE!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

This hotel cannot even be described as a hotel. The entrance was dirty, the doors were broke, we had to go through the "games room" to get to the reception which had a very bad odour to it.
We were told there would be parking, which there wasn't, when we asked where to put our car they replied it was our problem we will have to go find a space. The woman on reception was in a foul mood asking me where we had been as she wanted to go to bed! (very good customer service??) it was only 9pm on a saturday night, im sure we were not the last to check in.
We were told there was only a family room left on the top floor, but that it had 4 double beds and was a very big room with an en suite, we were quite looking forward to what we thought would be a huge room ; we were mistaken! Firstly the lift only takes you to the second floor, therefore we had to carry our heavy bags up 2 flights of stairs, there was no help offered or given. The room was tiny, I couldn't imagine a family of 4 or worst of all 4 couples sharing this tiny room. The beds were also DEFINATELY not doubles, me and my partner had to sleep in seperate beds. All bedsheets were unclean. We were given 2 towels, one which was disgustingly dirty and one which had holes in it. The bed sheets were unclean, one bed had a large brown stain.
Noise kept us awake most of the night, some noise obviously could not be blamed on the owners but on other unfortunate residents, however there was lots of creaking noise etc throughout. The bathroom was revolting! Mould all around the ceiling. Toilet vile, had to cover the rim in toilet paper as was too dirty to sit on. The shower was worthless, a small drip of water came from the shower, my partner decided to not even bother.
The main point of this is if the price of this hotel was around £30, you would expect the worst, but we paid nearly £100?!?
To finish, any other hotel you could imagine would be better than this disgusting hostel. The kensington hotel? More like a prison cell. Do not make the mistake of ever going here!!
