“dirty and unsafe place to stay”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

myself,my18yr daughter and 4 yr son arrived late on friday nite, what a mistake.the hotel is absolutely filthy and unsafe to be in.we entered our room on the top floor and it was freezing cold, the man brought us a portable heater which he plugged in,he thought and it didnt come on,he hadnt plugged in it,he then saw another one so he took that one away.the curtains were hanging off rail and the window didnt shut properly.the wall paper had lage amounts wripped off and paintwork a total mess. The tv didnt work neither the freeview box and the socket was hanging off the wall.there was no plug in bathroom to use the sink.We pulled the bed clothes back and there was make up in the pillow cases,we had to cover them with our bath towels.Thank god we only stayed 2 nights and no longer,we are disgusted AND upset we had to pay 140 pound to stay in this shambles.

“Simple, basic b&b with very friendly hosts”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

Arvind and Kai are very friendly hosts and they clearly care a lot about their family business.

Arv even let me in at 3:30am one morning because my mates had the front door key and were fast asleep inside after a night out. I must say it was quite a sight to be greeted by little Arv in his boxer shorts and chest rug at 3:30am and I'm hoping the memory of this will pass over time...

The B&B: its basic, very basic, but it's clean and friendly. For the price, it's fine. Would I want to take my girlfriend there on an anniversary? No way, would I take my Mother there for her birthday - no, unless she upset me. But for a cheap place to stay with your mates, it's fine and kind of fun. Or, if you are a family with a low budget, you'll be fine.

Enjoy!

P.S. it does smell a little of Indian food, so if that bothers you it'd probably be best to try elsewhere.

“Leave off with the negative comments - they are not necessary”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

My friend and I booked this b&b for one night, after booking it we stupidly came on here to see what the reviews were like. Needless to say, we weren't impressed with what other travellers had said - comments like "it smells of Curry" "Dirty bedding" "rude staff" etc very nearly made us cancel the room, and the whole drive to Blackpool we were worrying about what we were going to encounter.

Upon pulling up outside the hotel we parked car in designated parking and were suprised with how nice the exterior looked, we tentatlively opened the door expecting to be hit with a wave of strong curry smells, no bad smells whatsoever, I would assume that the comments are not about curry itself but about the owners being foreign and thus racist.

Mr Ghandi advised that he had more secure parking at the back and to put our car there instead of at the front of the hotel, which was very nice and meant we knew our car would be safe. He then showed us to our room.

We were on the top floor, and i'm assuming by the lack of love on that floor and the noise from revellers at night that this is the floor for party goers and therefore is not the best in decor and maybe not cleanliness (managed to sneak looks in rooms on the lower floors and they are a lot more appealing) This said, we checked the bedsheets - which were clean, the shower - again clean and the toilet - spotless. So we were quite happy to stay there.

The next morning we went down to breakfast and it was nice to see families there enjoying the beautifully cooked full english breakfast. Mr & Mrs Ghandi could not have been more accomodating with their guests. I asked for well cooked bacon, and plate came out with bacon ok cooked, then a couple of minutes later Mrs Ghandi came out with some more rashers on another plate for me, saying that was probably better - this she didn't have to do. Not only that, throughout our breakfast the staff were checking that our meals were ok, if we required anything further and kept our individual coffee pot flowing. From past experience in B&B's you get what you are given, and don't get seconds, and definately don't get the owners coming round each table and talking to the guests making sure everything is satisfactory and that we had a good stay.

All in all, yes the b&b is a bit basic and could do with some TLC, but other than that we had a fantastic night, and Mr & Mrs Ghandi are brilliant hosts.

If ever i'm in blackpool again, i will use the Golden Nile.

“Basic Accomadation”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

This was a very budget place to stay and ok for one night, contrary to other reviews i did not smell any curry, the room was very basic and although the bed was clean, you could tell the cleaner had just brushed over what she could see, i would only recommend this for one night if your there for a drinking weekend, and not as part of a family or couples, the owners were very friendly and kept asking if we wanted any more breakfast, and the secure parking sound the back was a bonus, i also think with the current climate they let large groups of stags and hens stay which can be very noisey in the early hours. location wise this was good.

Room Tip: Ask for a middle floor not the top, as i believe they are the worse rooms.
