My friend and I booked this b&b for one night, after booking it we stupidly came on here to see what the reviews were like. Needless to say, we weren't impressed with what other travellers had said - comments like "it smells of Curry" "Dirty bedding" "rude staff" etc very nearly made us cancel the room, and the whole drive to Blackpool we were worrying about what we were going to encounter.
Upon pulling up outside the hotel we parked car in designated parking and were suprised with how nice the exterior looked, we tentatlively opened the door expecting to be hit with a wave of strong curry smells, no bad smells whatsoever, I would assume that the comments are not about curry itself but about the owners being foreign and thus racist.
Mr Ghandi advised that he had more secure parking at the back and to put our car there instead of at the front of the hotel, which was very nice and meant we knew our car would be safe. He then showed us to our room.
We were on the top floor, and i'm assuming by the lack of love on that floor and the noise from revellers at night that this is the floor for party goers and therefore is not the best in decor and maybe not cleanliness (managed to sneak looks in rooms on the lower floors and they are a lot more appealing) This said, we checked the bedsheets - which were clean, the shower - again clean and the toilet - spotless. So we were quite happy to stay there.
The next morning we went down to breakfast and it was nice to see families there enjoying the beautifully cooked full english breakfast. Mr & Mrs Ghandi could not have been more accomodating with their guests. I asked for well cooked bacon, and plate came out with bacon ok cooked, then a couple of minutes later Mrs Ghandi came out with some more rashers on another plate for me, saying that was probably better - this she didn't have to do. Not only that, throughout our breakfast the staff were checking that our meals were ok, if we required anything further and kept our individual coffee pot flowing. From past experience in B&B's you get what you are given, and don't get seconds, and definately don't get the owners coming round each table and talking to the guests making sure everything is satisfactory and that we had a good stay.
All in all, yes the b&b is a bit basic and could do with some TLC, but other than that we had a fantastic night, and Mr & Mrs Ghandi are brilliant hosts.
If ever i'm in blackpool again, i will use the Golden Nile.
