“should be shut down”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

we arrived at the hotel after we read the other reviews we knew it was not going to be great but thought as there was 10 of us on a stag weekend and its cheap (for a good reason) we wold book it up as long as we had a bed and a hot shower that would do us. Went in to the reception to be greated by 2 people whose english was basic to say the least and we gave our name and got told the price we were quoted and had paid was wrong so we had to have 5 rooms with a double bed in stead of the 5 rooms with 2 single beds we were told we were getting and if we wanted a single bed each they wanted more money off each of us we asked for our money back so we could go somewhere else and they refused we argued for about 20 minutes before we decided we wanted to get ready and go out so reluctantly agreed to share beds. The showers had no hot water we had 5 rooms and not one us had hot water complaining is pointless they dont understand properly and quite simply dont care, We decided to have a drink in the hotel bar only to find all the draught pumps are broken and the pool table cant be played as the floor is unsafe to walk on to get there and part of the ceiling had fallen down. Getting back to the rooms between the 5 rooms we had broken toilets broken wardrobes broken lights and stains on the bed sheets one of the rooms didnt have a t.v they were just horrible i would not even reccommend it to my worst ennemy, i am in shock that a few of the reviews are saying its not that bad as it is worse when you acctually get there and see it than any review can ever describe we ate out for the whole weekend as we didnt dare try the food there.

“Stay Away at all costs”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

The service was shocking, They tried to get more money, The bedrooms we had to share some had just double beds instead of single so grown men had to share, filthy blocked toilets no hot water no heating, overall a dump. One bedsheet had yellow stains on and mould

Room Tip: Choose a differnet hotel

Same group of people, who I have describe in my previous response.
10 Gentleman, made booking under false pretenses. Came and caused havoc in the building, argued with the staff for few hours, cause they had some wrong assumption. The people who had so much inconvenience to sleep in double beds which they have agreed at the time of making booking.

People who wouldn't pay £2.00 extra on top which makes instead of £16.00 per person to £18.00 per person to have luxury of single beds for them selves.

People who are complaining about the pumps, which was clearly mentioned to them on arrival, that it will not be working, however instead all the drinks are at £2.00 which includes all bottles, cans, sprits etc. Which is atleast 70% cheaper than most of Blackpool clubs and bars.

I am very sorry, but some people would be expecting Ritz for £16.00 where hotel have to provide them serve for 24 hours.

do not stay here!!!!! the owners are rude, the hotel is filthy and should be shutdown!!! as soon as u walk in there is water dripping from a hole from the ceiling, the rooms,, god where do i start.. the windows was that filthy u cudnt see outside. the beds are not CLEAN and the wholehotel was freezing... they dont put the heating on.. the room had chocolate celebrations on the floor which was not ours which proves the rooms r never cleaned!! !!!!! the asian man that worked there claimed he was a qualified plumber although hardly anybody had hot water ... he also walked into our room while me and my friends was in bed at 5 in the morning and tried to chuck us out ... but as soon as we threatended them with everiomental health he soon changed his mind and let us stay.... none of the hotel workers must sleep as all they seem to do is wonder around the corriders trying to listen to a bit of noise so they can walk in!!!
also we paid in full online yet wen we got there,, they insisted tht we owed them 30 pound which we had to pay !!!!!! everytime u walk downstairs... there is another guest complaining and demanding a refund... this place is disgusting !!! its not value for money... we was there in a big group and where all young and r used to basics butt this was past basic.... i cant see it being open much longer!!!!!!!.....

“Wouldn't stay there again”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

I read some other reviews on Tripadvisor a couple of days before I stayed at the Welbeck. They made me a bit nervous but I was determined to keep an open mind.

My room only cost £10 for the night and I wouldn't have paid more. The actual bedroom wasn't bad, it was the bathroom that really needs work doing. No towel rail or radiator meant that it was freezing in there. The bath mat was a piece of paper with 'bath mat' printed on it, which was a bit bizarre. The shower was quite good it terms of temperature and water pressure but the door didn't close properly and the shower head holder had broken so I had to wash my hair with one hand.

I had paid extra for breakfast and I really shouldn't have. The bacon was obviously the cheap kind that's full of water as it tasted more like it was boiled than fried. I thought cereal might be a safer option but the cereals had clearly been left out in the bowls for quite some time as the rice crispies had welded into one solid lump.

I didn't complain as I suppose you get what you pay for, but I know some of the other guests paid more than £20 for their rooms and this hotel can't justify those prices. They need to do some serious work to imrove their standards.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else
