We stayed at the Fame from 21st to 23rd October. Barry and Lesley were very welcoming to our family. The hotel was lovely and modern and our room was lovely with a sea view. The beds were really comfortable and our room was clean. The bar was lovely to relax in, and the breakfast was fantastic, fresh homecooked self serve, our kids loved the experience and so did we! will definately go back next year!

Just returned fromThe Fame after spending Monday to Friday 10-14th October 11. Our feedback is mixed. The location is perfect and our seaview family room was a fine size - 3 things 1) there was a small empty bottle of irn bru at the bottom/side of the top bunk bed when we arrived so wasn't sure if the top bunk had the sheets changed as surely this would have been noticed after the last family had left and beds changed? 2) After putting the boys rucksacks on top of the sizeable wardrobe, when taking them down they were absolutely covered in dust so would advise it needs a good clean up there and 3) the toilet seat needs fixed as when we sat down on it, it was prone to sliding to the side and needed a good clean at the hinge parts too and pedestal were covered in dust.
Towels changed daily which was great and the hearty breakfasts cooked by Lesley were excellent and filled us up for the day.
Barry the husband was pleasant enough but since we were the only people in the hotel for the best part of our stay, it would have been nice if he'd even got to know our kids names, what we did for a living, just the general chit chat between hosts and guests. Don't get me wrong we did have a laugh down in the bar area most evenings but we learned hell of a lot more about Barry than he did of us and the ins and outs of him running the Fame.
Barry and Lesley please accept this as constructive critisism and we did enjoy our stay, the room was a great size for us, and the general hotel/b&b was great, but we think a little more customer service training is in order especially when dealing with the public! (especially on this occasion anyway).

just got back from yet another 5 days with barry and les 2nd time we have stayed here cannot fault anything about this boarding house food top notch service better than 5star places will be back again keep up the good work and thank you for another pleasent stay xx

We stayed at fame for one night to go and see the lights and had an excellent time, after reading a few reviews on this site we wondered whether we had made a good decision to stay there but we had. Barry and Leslie are a very friendly couple with a good sense of humour and very hospitable, they gave us good advice where to go to park the car up and go for a meal without being ripped off. once we came back from seeing the lights we had quite a few drinks and a good sing along on the karaoke. The atmosphere is really homely and welcoming, we would definatley book again nothing is too much trouble for them.
