I booked my partner and his friends in here for his stag do, we booked 7 places and 7 provisional places which we didnt pay a deposit on. In the initial phone call i was told the price was £30 per night on the date they wanted, we agreed this and i paid the deposits. I then recieved a letter stating the price was £35 per night per person -i had since looked on trip adviser and read the reports that it was more of a dirty hostel than a hotel so i was reluctant to pay the extra money esp. as we'd already been quoted a price. So i rang the hotel were i was spoken to as though i was a simpleton having explained to me that 'the dates you want are a bank holiday' repeatedly. After a call to trading standards i rang back and told them the law said they had to do the rooms at the 1st price or refund the deposits. So they agreed and i recieved a new confirmation witht the correct price on.
A week or so later i called and changed the 7 provisional places to 5 places, this was ok'd as long as the fellas didnt mind sharing beds (but for the same price!) but was never confirmed in writing.
Yesterday as after my partner arrived at the hotel i recieved an aggressive phone call from the 'manager' of the 'hotel' shouting at me that as the 5 provisional places hadnt been filled we would still have to pay the full balance for all of their rooms! I queried as to why she was calling me about this matter when my partner and friends were at the hotel and she repeatedly screamed at me 'well you booked it!' I told her i wouldnt be paying any more and the deposits she had covered the people who were there and as the others hadnt paid deposits she couldnt keep them! But as she was busy shouting down the phone at me she obviously didnt hear. I put the phone down.
Then i phoned my partner & could hear her ranting in the back ground, i told him to tell her if she wasnt going to let them stay she had to refund the deposits as it was her choice not to let them stay as the other 5 provisional places werent filled. She then came on the phone to scream at me some more and was stating that she was taking the full balance off our card which she had retained the details of without our knowledge or permission! (As i had told her the lads would all be paying cash on arrival there was absaloutley no need for her to do this!)! She then showed the best man the booking details with all of our card details on and the security code for the bank ref!! which shouldnt even be written down anywere! As the best man didnt trust her (who knows why?!) He instructed my partner to phone the bank and cancel his card, whilst on the phone doing this he was informed by the bank that she was currently trying to take the full balance from his account!
They demanded all the booking details from her which she provided -including the one we never recieved about the provisional 5 places, which was obviously hastily typed up as it had mistakes and the wrong balance on it!
Dont know what the state of the place is like as they stayed in a hotel across the road -who's manager laughed and said 'she does it all the time!' Im just lucky i wasnt there as i think i would have been up for assault!! And at least theyve got a funny story for the wedding speeches! haha!

this place was a disgrace, dirty smelly hole i wouldnt recommend to anyone. 22 of us stayed 22 of us came out full of bites, breakfast was crap 1 bacon 1 sausage 1 egg and a tomarto not worth £30 stay away

we stayed at this poor excuse for a hotel on the 30th april. it was over priced at 31 pound and 20 pound bond money which was spose to be given back when hand the key back ,but on the sunday morning we handed key back she tried to tell us someone had come down and said they were from room 8 and she gave them 20 pound of cours this was a lie.after 20 mins after arguing the fact why she gave money over with out the key and her pretending to call the police in the hope we would scurry off which of course we didnt,as we wer middle aged not 17 she gave the 20 pound back the lads were covered in bite marks after sleeping in the beds. very bad stay away

cant believe all the bad reviews!! Good rooms with a decent bathroom! staff were good tidied the rooms for us the bar didn't stop serving what more do you want? i would recommend this hotel to any! looking to have a god night out
