“freezing”

arrived at the hotel at 3pm on a freezing cold day ( sat 11 feb ) went to room to drop the bags off to find the room cold, radiator not working. Went out for something to eat, back at 6.00pm to get changed to go back out only to find the radiator just about warm, room still freezing. Quick change and back out, back to the room around midnight, radiator not on. Up in the morning still no heating, no heating in the ( very small ) bathroom, so no shower, to cold. Breakfast ok, on checking out reported to the reception, to be told, oh it must want bleeding, no apology, no nothing. Its not the first time i have stayed at this hotel, but it will be the last

Room Tip: go in summer

“Decent room with sea view, friendly staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

We got a taxi from the train station to the hotel and were informed that the hotel was famous for being in a scene from Coronation Street way back! (Those of you who are as old as us might remember Alan Bradley being killed by a tram outside The Strand). There's a very small reception area and the staff member on duty there was really pleasant and helpful. We had an executive room with a sea view which was spacious, clean and had everything we needed. We asked if there was entertainment on in the bar that night and were advised that there was, so instead of staying out in Blackpool we returned to the hotel. After a couple of drinks, we were asked to move into an adjoining room as there was a Christmas party group in the restaurant who would be coming down to the bar and would want the seats! We were offended at this, and made the point that as hotel residents who were already seated in the bar and had not previously been informed that we couldn't, we were unwilling to move. Nothing more was said and we enjoyed a good night. I've got to say at this point that the bar staff were excellent, it's a pity that the start of the evening was disappointing with us being asked to move. Now to breakfast the next morning - it was extremely disappointing. It should have been served from 8.30am but the hot food wasn't out until 8.45am. When it did eventually arrive it was very undercooked and tasteless. We had read on previous reviews that the breakfast was really good so we were really disappointed by this. All in all, the hotel was ok and the staff were very friendly, wouldn't recommend the hot breakfast though!

Room Tip: Executive sea view rooms are nice
