“end of claremont for me”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Just returned from an all-inclusive break at the claremont in Blackpool and unfortunately we think that this might be last time we go, having gone 2 or 3 times a year for several years. It has really gone downhill, its was overcrowded with kids as well as adults, noisy, no room in the enertainment room due to too many kids taking up seats then running around all night. The meals have been going downhill the last couple of times we have been, so much so that 3 out of our 6 meals in one serving were sent back as being luke warm and congealed not a pleasent sight, Comedian Carl Schofield was the highlight of the weekend but he was on early so had to be tame with his banter due to kids in audience. The drinks queue was annoying, as they refused to serve no more than 2 drinks per person, so you queued got drinks, put them down on nearby table and queued again it was not funny, the drinks also appeared to be watered down, the free beer was undrinkable, so the blokes were buying bottles, and the spirits were so weak I drank 10 brandies and coke in one evening session and was not even tipsy. The queue for lunch on Saturday was just as bad and very long, with just one sandwich and one bowl of luke warm soup, The tables in the dining room in the evening are now so squashed together that you are joined onto another persons table. It looks like we will be looking for a new venue in Blackpool from now on

Room Tip: Dont pay the extra for the sea views the rooms are very small with only tiny windows, and ask not to...

Dear lindenlee4

Thank you for your review.

I am sorry if your recent stay at the Claremont was not as good as previous experiences. We have been particularly busy over the half term period and we also accept children during all-inclusive breaks for half term.

I have noted your comments and spoken to the various departments and staff concerned. There is no excuse for luke warm food.

On a positive note, I am please that you enjoyed our entertainment.

I am concerned about your comments about the alcohol served during your stay. May I assure you that we only serve alcohol from its original packaging, in measures and stamped glasses in accordance with the Weights and Measures Act and only in the state the manufacturer supplied and intended it to to be served. To do otherwise would be a contravention of the licensing laws and therefore harmful to our business and not in our best interests.

I hope that you won't let this stay prevent you from coming again and would like to supervise your next reservations personally should you decide to return. I can be contacted via the Central Reservations Department.

Regards

Just got back from the Claremont hotel and we had a ball. four couples aged 25-64 years old, myself and husband in the previously complained about room 355. Yes it was on the small side but fully functional as all we did was shower, change and sleep in it. I dont know what else to say but full english breakfast. three course waiter served dinner, nightly entertainment and all drinks included for two nights at £109 each.... and nearly forgot, we also like to enjoy ourselves!! (If you want 5 star then pay for it).

Room Tip: ring prior arrival staff very helpful for special requirements

Having just read your review I felt I needed to write in order to assist you in your insurance claim. As I do not have your full name or reservation number it is difficult to look into this. We do not provide insurance or recommend a particular insurer but are more than happy to provide proof of cancellation to your insurer for you. Therefore, please would you contact one of our sales managers on 01253 745266, who should be able to help you.
