We arrived at the hotel at 1pm on saturday the 21st november 2009. When we arrived the hotel had an awful smell and they advertise a bar and there is no bar. The rooms were tiny and stinking of damp. The owners weren't friendly at all. The breakfast was overcooked and the cutlery was dirty. Please don't stay at this hotel. Honestly, it is awful and i wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

This hotel is fairly central to town centre, that is its only positive. It smells as soon as you walk through the door, the rooms we were allocated were not what we had booked, resulting in more of the party having to share. The ensuite rooms were tiny we had to walk sideways to get around the room. One of our group's toliet was blocked.
We had no choice at breakfast, waited an hour, it was cold and poor quality.
The beds were clean but the rest of the place was scruffy, smelly aquariums, no bar just a rubbish store.
There are mushrooms growing on the ceiling in the living room!

We made a booking and paid it with our credit card, one of our children came down very sick and we were unable to travel, this hotel took the full amount from our credit card for the 3 days stay on the day we were supposed to arrive, when talking to the them firstly they refused to refund our money (less the deposit, which we understood we would lose) but she also hung up on me, don't stay at this hotel and definitely don't give credit card details, these people are theives.

We have just returned from a three night stay for an anniversary celebration. When we arrived we were given a warm welcome from Laura the owner and allocated our en-suite room, which was clean and cozy, with a TV and tea and coffee making facilites. The full english breakfast each morning was a treat, and coooked exactly to each of our specifications. The lounge area is very comfortable with large leather sofas to sit back in and enjoy some of the DVD's available to guests on the large flat screen TV. There is also an amazing aquarium coffee table opposite the bar. We had stayed at The New Hertford twice before under different management and were slightly dubious when first booking, because of the negative reviews we had read. Well now I can't believe how these could have been written, because of the genuine warmth we received from the staff. We had previouly travelled up by train, (Blackpool North is only a short walk from the hotel) but this time decided to drive up. We were offered some excellent parking facilities in Bank Street opposite the staion when we booked, and were not disappointed.
We will be returning again for more of the genuine warmth we received from Laura and her staff. Thanks again Laura - you're fab!
