This was our (1 human and 2 hounds!) sixth stay at The Braeside and once again we can't fault it. As usual it delivered on every front: friendliness and hospitality, comfort and cleanliness, and value for money.
The Braeside is situatated at Gynn Square, about 20 minutes walk from the main town centre and 1 minute from the nearest tram stop, which means that while all the attractions are easily accessible, the area around the guest house is nice and quiet. The beach is just two or three minutes walk away.
For me the main benefit to The Braeside is that it is dog friendly, which is what first brought me to it. Now, I have stayed in a whole host of supposed "dog friendly" accommodation in different parts of the country, only to arrive and find my dogs scowled at, treated as an inconvenience, and to be greeted with a list as long as your arm of "dos and don'ts. Not so at The Braeside - Gordon and Vicky are genuine doggy lovers who always make a big fuss of my two dogs, who are clearly pleased to see them too each year, complete with waggy tails! Gordon and Vicky have even had my dogs in their lounge when not being used by other guests and dog sat for me on occasions while I go out - well over and above the call of duty I would say!
Having said that, people without dogs do not need to worry that the guest house is overly doggy and most of the people who have stayed there at the same time as me over the years have not had dogs. The atmosphere in the Braeside is very friendly, with Gordon and Vicky taking an interest in all their guests, human and canine, and I think it says a lot about them that much of their business seems to come from people who have visited before.
I would not hesitate in recommending The Braeside to anyone, and would not stay anywhere else in Blackpool, whether or not I had my dogs with me.
