“Good stay.”

Stag weekend, ideal!! Read reviews before going down, the bad reviews I didn't have any of them happen to me or any of the group. Friendly staff, anything we asked for the staffed helped right away. Short taxi ride to the main bars and clubs. Twin room was small, bathroom was clean and shower good. Bar area was perfect. Breakfast was enough to fill a hole and to start of the day. For weekend stay its perfect for party groups for families should go Sunday to thurs. You get what you pay for, if you want 5* book the Hilton.

“Check the terms”

I returned to the Wellington as my 1st stay had been pleasant. However I returned in a smaller group for my birthday and unfortunately one person couldn't make it. I fully expected to lose the deposit but when I arrived and explained I was greeted by a man who said that we had to pay the full amount and take the issue up with the manager who was due when he liked. With this in mind I thought ok I'll deal with it tomorrow. On arrival in the room we heard a loud dripping noise coming from the bathroom and to our shock it was leaking in 2places but the worst bit was that one leak came through the light, we quickly turned the light off and told reception. They changed the room from a 4person to a 3 man room. That room was cramped, dirty and quite frankly not habitable (I was grateful I had my own pillow and blanket). But having been made to feel like we had asked for a millin pound prior thought best to leave it. The room had a tv on top of the wardrobe which meant that it couldn't really be seen it also didn't have a remote so after climbing on a chair to turn it on we couldn't change the channel. We really didn't want to complain again but they sent up someone to fix the tv who said we could keep the remote for the night (like he was doing us a favour) the room also had no towels so being prepared was the right thing to do.

Anyway Blackpool served us well and the next morning the breakfast was as you would expect full of tinned processed crap being passed off as a good Blackpool breakfast. However once we checked out we asked to see the manager who arrived with a dog who literally ran wild round the breakfast area hardly clean standards. We explained about getting our money back and he kept saying WE SIGNED A TERMS AND CONDITIONS FORM we explained that we had no idea what he was talking about. He produced a file with all booking reference in it he saw on our form that it didn't state that the form had been posted let alone signed. He tried to point at a form for another group which had had the terms and we said that wasn't us and he huffed saying he is running a business and as decent people we should just accept the loss. We pointed out that we didnt have the extra bed ie more room so why should we pay. The dog kept trying to jump on me and he did nothing. He kept saying the terms etc but we said we haven't signed it so we shouldn't have to pay. The final straw of our stay was his point blank refusal to give our money back and he stormed off saying he didn't need our return custom he was busy enough. Despite the hotel appearing to be empty and he stormed out like a small child.

With customer service like that from the management is it any wonder that the overall service was dreadful. My overall advice to anyone thinking of booking is don't Im all for cheap and cheerful but basic customer service, decent food and a clean room are a given.

“A good Monday to Friday bargain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2011

Booked direct with the owners. Travelled with my partner and 2 teenage girls, Got a great Monday to Friday deal. Family room sleeps 4 with 1 double and a bunk bed for £160.00. POSITIVES: clean room and bathroom, double bed was comfy, TV with remote, pleasant and helpful staff, plenty of tea/coffee in room. A lovely young lady asked if I required anything and to just ask if necessary. I asked for more towels and got them, asked for more milk and got a jug full. Plenty of storage for clothes ect. Kids entertainment room in reception area with Xbox and pcs. Bar area was nice with pool table and arcade machines. Sadly I missed the quiz night but didn't know it was on till I heard the end of it on our return to our room. NEGATIVES: The top bunk in our room was too uncomfy for my daughter due to the bent metal slats, but luckily she could share with me in the double as my partner only stayed the first night. The kettle lead wasn't long enough and you had to boil the kettle on the floor. Parking is available along the road from the hotel at £10 per 24hours (took me 2 days before I managed to get free on street parking) VERDICT: Stay here mid week if you are a family with kids because its a bargain and adequate for what you need. Stay here on a weekend if you like to party. The owners are lovely and will make you feel welcome.

“Bargain”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

Read some reviews before we went was a bit worried but no need as the place was ideal. Simple and basic but that really suited us - had three young grandchildren with us and was able to relax as there was nothing they could fiddle with or mess up. I hate hotels where you are so scared of moving something or leaving something out of place - this was fantastic and made life so easy. Some folk have complained about lack of parking but there is a car park about 50 yards along the street where we left the car for three days with no fuss. The hotel is so close to all the main attractions that we did not use the car at all while we were there. The staff were so friendly and helpful that could not ask for more. If you want a simple hotel that lets you spend your money on enjoying yourself - then this is the one for you. If you want fuss and frills at an overinflated price - then go somewhere else. We will be going back!

Room Tip: We had the room shown in pictures 11 and 12 and it was exactly as shown - 2 sets of bunks and a doub...
