“Disappointed and Confused?”

We recently stayed at Amethyst Hotel Blackpool. When I made the telephone booking I was offered a choice of room, I chose the Gold Room. But we werent given the room when we arrived, I was disappointed but say anything as I didnt want to make a fuss. Then when speaking to other guests we found out they had been charged £25 each person per night, they had paid £100 for 2 people on a 2 night stay. Yet we had been charged £30 each person per night.? Which totalled £120? For the same 2 nights? We had paid £20 more? than the other guests. Also the Gold Room which I had booked was occupied by other guests.

OWNERS RESPONCE.
Dear Sue
First of all you were not promised room 3 (Gold Room) as this room was allready booked by a regular weeks before.
You mentioned that the couple you were discussing prices with had paid less, the reason for that is they had booked on line before we had chance to change prices for new years eve,we charge £25. all year round surely you can't grumble at an extra £5 for new years eve
We even gave you (a couple) a large family room, you also thanked us on leaving saying you had enjoyed your stay even Mick (your partner) said he would definately come back to the Amethyst

“good quality rooms few issues but nothing major”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2010

only stopped one night when booked over the phone was promised a parking space
when we arrived was told they had given the space too someone who was stopping longer which at first felt like we had been lied too to get the booking as a parking space in blackpool is vital during the illuminations
but to be fair the owner swappped and chnged to accomodate the car of ours
the hotel is clean and tidy we had the family room and was absolute just what you need clean well decorated and ensuite was also clean
the location is about 5 minutes walk too the seafront
the breakfast was of good quality and well cooked my only gripe for me personally was that there was not enough 1 sausage ,1 slice of bacon, hash brown, egg, beans and tomatoes
we only went for the children to experience the illuminations
its not really our kind of destination but if by any miracle we went back too blackpool we would stop again

“FANTASTIC”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2010

We have been staying at this hotel now for 6 years, we have never had a bad experience, think the only room we haven't slept in is John and Pearl's. John, Pearl and Molly the dog are fantasic hosts, we would class them and their children Kelly & Catherine as family. John and Pearl make a mean full English and to our family requirements without any quarms. C ya nxt yr guys. xxxxxxxx
