“I WOULDN'T GO BACK AGAIN, BUT I AM SURE THERE ARE MUCH WORSE PLACE TO STAY IN BLACKPOOL”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2010

Stayed here for four night's july 2010,promised to be a great family holiday with nightly entertainment to suit all ages & meals made by a top quality chef of 30 years experiance. My partner and 2 girls10&13.Welcomed on arrival, but not shown to our room which would have been nice. Our room was badly in need of re furbishment, shower was very old hard to control temp, ILL fitting curtains on a street facing bay window,so very noisey at night(but we where in the middle of blackpool)Unfortunatley for us the once regular entertainer had left on the day of our arrival.Instead we had a guy that was a bit unsure how to entertain the few people that did use the bar area of an evening...bingo was the popular time filler...cant complain as i did win on a few ocassion.Karaoke song choices where limited, much to my kids dissapointment.Expected more.Basic dinning area but nice.Breakfast was very good, dinner was far to Basic thou! chef with 30 years experiance? Very nice service staff in dinning area.Hotel manager was nice although allowing himself and other staff to smoke directly at hotel entrance doesn't realy send out a great visual. We parked car at Bonny street car park that was very resonable.

“What a weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2010

I have just come back from a fantastic weekend at the Calypso. The staff can't do enough for you and they had a lot to put up with looking after us lot!!!! The location is fantastic, right in the middle of everything (I recommend going to Tussauds and taking the bus to the zoo). The only slightly negative comment is the hotel could do with a bit of updating but I was having so much fun I soon stopped noticing the surroundings :-). It was so good I'm going back next year.

“Friendly,welcoming and excellent value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2009

On arrival the hotel was very welcoming, clean with friendly staff. Nice large family rooms with tv and freeview, very clean, lovely bathroom with a spacious shower and hot water, what more could you ask for. Very large evening meal, and plenty of breakfast on offer.
Our stay was very pleasant with evening karoke, and entertainment.

Close to winter gardens and amusments/shops.

Excellent value, would recommend to everyone.

we booked at this hotel as we had met in blackpool and it was our anniversary so we decided to go back to blackpool we looked on the web site of this so called hotel and the rooms looked great we didnt book but just went on the off chance dont believe it the rooms were nothing like the pictures no subdued lighting nice beds plants on the bedside table No it was creaky broken beds dirty unironed linen and the carpet was all stained An elderly woman came up to tell us the room had been missed fair enough but then she proceeded to slate the other staff and management we listened for what seemed an eternity and decided to make the best of it and stay even though the shower and toilet had been "missed" by the cleaner The food was at best poor greasy spoon but the other staff were ok unfortunately the cleaner then turned into the waitress with a high pitched screeching voice all over the dining room it was ok for 1 night but i wouldnt want to stay there for any lenghth of time what a shambles

“A rip off”

Although the staff are very nice and had no complaints about the breakfast, the room we stayed in was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. Although it is a family room, it is situated right above the disco/karaoke, and it is just as loud in the room as it is downstairs. When you are trying to get your kids to sleep it is awful. The room had not been cleaned when we arrived and someone came up to hoover it, although there were still hairgrips and other bits everywhere. The shower was so dirty/mouldy/smelly I refused to go in there and used one in my mums room which was much nicer. There were noisy guests at all hours of the morning and we left absolutely exhausted. We paid £115.00 per night and feel as though I have been totally ripped off and would never go there again. Even my kids were disgusted and they are only 10 and 6.
