It's such a shame for this hotel - i'm sure that in it's prime it was wonderful.
The room (on the 3rd Floor) was pleasant enough and very clean BUT it was on the road side of the hotel!!! Dont book a room this side - couldn't sleep till 6am due to all the noise from the clubs over the road!!!
We upgraded to the Sea side of the hotel for £10 each for the one night and it was well worth it by far.
If you want a cheap break in Blackpool and you want nice food/clean room and happy staff then make sure you book a premier room on the Sea side of the hotel and you will find nothing to moan about (which people tend to do on here!)
Enjoy

The meals were good value. Having a drink in the hotel is very pleasant and also good value. The room on second floor was clean but rather tired and so were we when we left as the noise from outside at night was unbearable, but we couldn't see the action as the windows were filthy. The staff were doing there work best as they could, but not a happy bunch. Worth another stay, but a room at the rear is a must,

We too were housed in the Lower Ground rooms on the 21st August for two nights and the Stink is still there as described by a guest who stayed on the 8th August so nothing as been done to sort this most pungent smell out. We were informed that there had been a flood and the problem was being sorted. They also said they would send someone down to sort it as well. [--] nobody came they wouldn't move us to other rooms. The dirty crockery in the Dinning room (I would discribe it more of a Mess room) was disgusting and if you like your food being man handled by staff with their bare hand after they have been empting leftovers from guest plates you will like it here and if you like your refreshments such as undrinkable coffee and tea you too will also enjoy your stay here. Take my advice do not stay here.

We got into our room ,went to make a cup of tea ,had to wash the cups as they had red lipstick on them.
That evening went to dinner ,we had 4 choices it was a shame that they were all cold when we wen't to complain we got passed from one to another then finnally taken round the corner so none of the other guests could hear. After 15 minutes we had both lost our appetite as they were doiing nothing about it so we went across the road for dinner .
WE WILL NOT BE BACK.

After reading most of the reviews on this site, I must admit that we were worried since we had already paid for 4 rooms up front through bookings.com. Apon arrival (Friday afternoon), we drove straight into a parking space, no issues with the car park. We checked in at 4pm. Checking was flawless, staff very polite and helpfull, Reception was decorated in the period of the hotel whcik was nice.. We had four rooms, 3 on the second floor, one on the 3rd. I had a twin room. It was a good size with modern furniture, new carpets, a spotless newly decorated bathroom and the sheets on the bed were well crisp and white. So say we were well impressed would be a massive understatement. I went o check the other rooms, they were all of the same standard, although one of the twin rooms was slightly smaller. One of our rooms even had bay windows and a spa bath... this was still a standard room !!
The only thing that let the hotel down was breakfast, it didnt look too nice, so I stuck just to a coffee...
I will now definately stay at the Metropole on our next lads weekend away....
