“Not great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

My partner and i stayed at the Stretton when in Blackpool for the annual pigeon show held at the winter gardens, during our stay we had no hot water at all so showers were out of the question, the double bed in our room was broken and we were told that it would be fixed when we informed reception on the Saturday but it never was done during our stay, the bed itself was rock hard and we found it difficult to sleep for the 2 nights we were there. the food was ok and the staff were nice, overall I would not recommend the hotel and I wouldn't stay here again.

“Could do better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

We stayed at this hotel as it was near to our venue (Winter Gardens). Overall the accommodation whilst extremely clean is crying out to be brought into the current century! Rooms need better décor, better lighting and better heating. The quality of the food served at breakfast also needs to be reviewed. Having said that the price was excellent (cheap) as I booked through the hotels website but I would not have paid a penny more.

On a positive note the staff were extremely friendly and helpful I just wish they had had the foresight to heat our room before we arrived as it was freezing and didn’t really heat up for the length of our stay and let’s face it is winter!!

“never been that appauled that i actually cried!! - terrible”

Went for my mums birthday - I have stayed at alot of hotels but usually do stick to travel lodge or premier inn but i did not book this my father did.... i cannot understand how a hotel could be that bad that i actually cried, i am six months pregnant and can say on arrival reception looked okay then we checked in and got to our room there was a party of 10 of us (2 per room) and we all said exactly the same "faulty towers'" the bed had a big burn mark in off the iron, the room itself was just disgusting the shower was pointless it was hot/cold/hot/cold not staying at one temperature, and trickled out. The main lights at one end of the hotel went off at 5pm when we were getting ready to go out our taxi was at 6pm (the offered us a bedside lamp) u would think they would offer a room change its not as if the hotel was full it was first week of jan, my sisters room had no mirror. We were told they had evening meals which we planned on having at 6pm instead of going out as it is really really windy on the promenade when we enquired the receptionist then informed us "there is a party in the function room tonight so no evening meals will be being served" this should of been stated when we booked the rooms!!!
We got back to the hotel at 1am to arrive to noise as the party was still alive god help anyone with a room close by. THE BEDS - never ever in mylife have i slept on a bed that was as hard as that, it was like sleeping on the floor my pillow was too just so hard, i never slept all night not even one hour the night dragged on and on, me and my partner had had enough by 6:30am and decided to check out and just get home (2 hours drive) it was horrendous!!! so didnt get chance to try breakfast (thank god) when checking out there was a turkish guy i mentioned this to at reception and he said "okay" what kind of customer service is that!!!!! i have never ever stayed in a hotel like this ever! it should be closed down so DO NOT take note of the pictures on there website or imagine the pictures they show are the top of the range!!!! classy! NOT.....

“great place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

big room (106 )great views of the sea and the tower .
attentive reception / bar staff
great breakfast
only sour point of whole stay was the indian staff who made it very obvious they disapproved of our mixed race marriage ( the wife's saudi arabian , i'm white ) even to the point of bursting in on her when they saw i'd left her alone in the room . we didn't make a big deal of this because we're used to such racism , but if you are a mixed race couple probably best to go elsewhere .
everything else about our stay at the Stretton was fantastic , i thoroughly recommend the hotel as a great place to stay .

Room Tip: ask for seaview , front of hotel
