“Lovely hotel, great service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

We visited this hotel as we wanted a better class of hotel than the norm - and that is what we got. The room was lovely, the staff were really friendly and helpfull and the food was great. The only thing i would say was that the bed was too firm for me and I didn't sleep that well. Overall I had a great experience x

Stayed at big blue in July 2011 and it was lovely. Rooms have a massive bed. We stayed in a family room that has separate bunk beds and own t.v for kids, but just be careful if your kids are under 4ft and under 12 the beds are fine, if like my daughter she was 11 and 5ft 2 she could not fit in them so they gave me a sofa bed in room for her and she loved it. Staff were lovely and the food was amazing. I'm going back in august 2012 with the kids

Room Tip: All rooms are very high standard so every room is good

“excellent weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

just returned from a 2 night new years eve weekend break at the big blue with my wife and 4 year old daughter. this is our 3rd visit in 2 years and it just gets better. the staff are very friendly. the rooms are great, the little ones get their own room with bunk beds and 2 tvs which my daughter loves, we have to drag her out or she would stay there all day. there was a new years eve package which we didnt go for ( too pricey) but as all their entertainment was in the same bar area we got it for free anyway. bonus :-) the hotel gave everyone a free glass of champers to see in the new year. double bonus :-) and we had a brilliant night. we have already been on the internet looking at prices for next year and cant wait to return.
a big hello to madeline from leeds who we met new years eve, a fun fun lady xx

Room Tip: go for a front facing room as the back ones face the pleasure beach. ( slightly better view)

“This hotel has it right”

We booked this last minute on 30th Dec for new years eve after having a bit of a sad christmas. We paid £175 with hotel directly for a family room b&b. We went with our almost 4 year old. others who had booked in october paid £200 for 2 adults for 2 nights b&b. another family paid £150 in Oct for 2 adults and 2 children.Anyway we were delighted with the family room, as you went in there was an area with bunkbeds and tv's for the children. lovely clean bathroom with bath and shower. whole room was clean. we got a bucket of ice for our champagne when we returned to room after midnight. we didnt have the package for new years eve at the hotel as it was rather expensive. however, when we booked we checked what situ was with youngsters in the bar as it was new years eve. children were welcome like everyone else and those who had kids there were well behaved. really lovely family friendly place. i'm not sure i would have been impressed if i had paid for the package as the bar area that we could use was right next to the entertainment so we got the benefit of that even though we hadnt paid for it. we sat in room and had a few drinks before heading off to the mandarin chinese in clifton road. that was lovely, quiet little place, nice tasty food.when we went back to the hotel to bring in new year, they gave out glasses of cava even to those in the bar who werent on the package. really nice touch. oh yes when we arrived in the room, they had wrapped up a selection box for the children, again nice touch. another thoughtfull point on the hotel staff point was that although there were bunkbeds for our little one, they had set up a bed next to ours for him. suppose that was incase he didnt want to sleep 'away' from us as the bunk beds were in the same room but round the corner so you felt like you had privacy. breakfast was gorgeous. everything you needed, they even had a full baked ham on offer. my mum had a separate room which was also nice. plenty of tea, coffee, hot choc, milk, biscuits in the room too. will be interested to book for next new year. breakfast as it was new years day was 9-12 and late check out of 1pm. they had taken time to think things through here. lovely time

Room Tip: family rooms look out onto pleasure beach

“Excellent hotel!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

We stayed at The Big Blue Hotel on New Years Eve. My husband had booked it for my birthday and wasn't aware that the Pleasure Beach was closed... this wasn't a problem as the hotel speaks volumes itself. It is modern, stylish and really impressive.
Check-in was quick and the staff were extremely helpful - they provided all the information we needed instantly.
The rooms are stunning - the decor is modern, slick and have a great colour scheme. They were extremely clean and were a pleasure to stay in (almost wished we hadn't gone out!!)
Breakfast was lovely and the self service is a nice touch. (My husband is a bit of a "breakfast head" and he loved it so it must be good!!)
I would definitely recommend this hotel and we are going back some time this year when the Pleasure Beach is open so we can experience the full effect.

Room Tip: The room was really hot so make sure the heating is right as we had to open the patio doors!! High...
