“Wouldn't recommend”

My first new year off work in 8 yrs with my partner and 3children..yes the room was ok and big enough, but the weekend itself and the hoteliers were not so good !! It's a place that if your face doesn't fit then you have had it.. You have to wait nearly an hour for your breakfast which was nothing to shout about and we were seperated from our children as there wasn't tables big enough for us all, you need to set your tables out for the amount of people staying in certain rooms I.e our room was sleeping five so a table should be set to accommodate us but it didn't !! The bar area is really small so you need to get in there from around 4oclock or you don't get a seat....and as for eating in the bar / sun lounge are well that's a joke as there is never any room coz its that small, same entertainment every night which gets boring especially for the kids and the games room is downstairs via the dining room and if your children go down there then ther is no way you can see them...all in all had a terrible experience and wouldn't recommend to stay here !!!

Thanks for choosing the Rockcliffe Hotel for your New Year Weekend with your family.
The room you stayed in was Room 14, which is a large family room, with two double beds and a single bed, plenty large enough for a family of five or six.

The New Year Weekend was a big and fun filled success according to all the other guests who attended.

We had 70% returning guests from the previous New Year, guests who return time and time again, sorry you felt your face did not fit, but we remember on many of occasions throughout the weekend talking to all individually.

I cannot believe you had to wait an hour for breakfast, there were two people cooking and plating and two members of staff serving, this is more than ample for forty guests. There was no mention from our staff that anyone was waiting or getting impatient.

It is very difficult on a New Years Eve function to lay tables according to party members, for example there was one party of twenty guests, who all were quite willing to sit on separate tables.

There was never anyone in the bar area each evening until 7pm, and because we provided additional seating from the dining room, there was ample seating for everyone.

Eating take-aways is permitted in our bar / Sun lounge area as you mentioned, this was a very popular option by most of our guests, who always had ample table area to eat their food, with plates and cutlery supplied by the hotel, how many other hotel establishments would even allow this?

We are a sixteen bedroom Guest Accommodation who only charged Bed & Breakfast prices for the New Year Weekend, we must have been the cheapest in Blackpool, and probably the reason you chose us in the first place. The Entertainment therefore was supplied free of charge, we had quizzes, Mr and Mrs games, Bingo and Karaoke and Disco. Your children seemed to have enjoyed all these options, looking at their smiling faces.

We are very fortunate to have a Games room in our hotel, most hotels have their games room located away from the bar / cabaret area, we are no different in this respect, if your were concerned about your children, the games room is large enough for you all to go in, with ample seating, and you can even take your drinks.

If you had a terrible experience we apologise, we didn’t take to kindly to you causing trouble and interrupting all the other guests whilst at our hotel for the three days. If you weren’t as argumentative and intoxicated, your experience of the weekend would have been of the same opinion as the rest of the guests who really had a great time, and have already booked again for next New Year.

“Very Welcoming will be returning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

We had an excellent four day stay, Fiona & Pete are a lovely couple who made us all feel very welcome, they are very approachable, the breakfast was lovely. It is an ideal place for a family my children loved it. Rooms are all very clean and nice and warm. The karaoke was a big hit with all the family. My parents are definitely considering returning to one of the special themed weekends.

“Very welcoming and cannot do enough for guests!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

Stayed here for two nights last weekend, Fiona and Pete are so special and really cannot do enough for you, the breakfasts are eggzcellent, with the option to dodge any items on the 'Big One Breakfast' that you don't want. The bar has very reasonable prices and the Karaoke is fun and enjoyable.

There is a tram stop only a few minutes walk on the seafront and Blackpool North train station is only a 10 to 15 minute walk. Fiona and Pete are very hospitable, if you want to have a takeaway delivered you can eat in a comfy seat looking out towards the sea with a knife and fork. Which was better than the freezing cold weather of Blackpool on a November night.

Will stay here again and again and again, hope you do too xx

Room Tip: Room 4 looks over the sea front and is only one flight and a few more of stairs

We are pleased you enjoyed your four night stay with us. Many thanks for your support in writing this review. The Karaoke is always a big hit with our Guests, it is all a bit of fun, aimed at Families and Couples. We do themed nights on a regular basis throughout the year. The next being a Neil Diamond night one weekend in June 2012. We look forward to seeing you all again on one of these special nights.

“What a good stay”

We were greeted by Peter and Fiona who we found to be very welcoming and helpful. The rest of the staff were also very pleasant and helpful. Our room had a sea view and we found it to be very clean and tidy as was the rest of the hotel. The breakfast was excellent. We would recommend this hotel to anyone This is the first time we had taken our grandaughter aged 3 to see the lights. She was made to feel welcome and Peter and Fiona sat and spoke with her on a couple of occassions. We realy found a gem in the Rockcliffe Hotel and we would definately book again with no hesitations.
Keep up the good work Peter and Fiona and as the grandaughter said hope to see you next year.
