“Excellent Value For Money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2009

Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights (Friday & Saturday) with my wife and 2 children - girls aged 15 & 10. All the staff were extremely helpful and most friendly.

The room was more than adequate and It was warm and comfortable. The shower was the tricky thing to master but once sorted was fine.

Food (breakfast) - All of us thought that the breakfast was excellent. Good selection of juices, fruits and cereals which was followed by a full English - bacon, sausage, egg, beans and mushrooms with as much toast as you wanted. Childrens breakfast was as adults but minus mushrooms. My veggy version was double egg with extra beans and mushrooms and I can honestly say that I didn't eat a further thing until me evening meal.

Location - 5 minutes walk from Pleaseure Beach (what a rip-off as they now charge a £5.00 entrance fee, if you aren't using the rides, to experience the ambience!!!!). As the hotel is further South it's in a much quieter location.

Car parking - Had no problem in finding a space on the road and no car parking charges to pay.

All-in-all - Good value for money hotel. Would we go back? Yes, definately

“Smallest breakfast ever!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2009

We have just returned from a one night stay at the Hotel Skye, I have to disclose I probably would not stay there again. The hotel itself was fairly typical of those one would expect (in this price bracket) in Blackpool.

The rooms were small and the decor/fittings were tired. The beds were clean and comfortable but our sliding, en-suite door did not fit in its frame so left a gaping hole. We were more than happy to overlook this though.

Breakfast was another story. We were served by two ladies, one was a delight, the other was like a dinner lady I remember from school. I felt like a child getting into trouble for ordering more toast as 'I had not finished what was in the basket!'. I'm sorry but I knew in advance that one piece of toast was not going to be adequate.

Breakfast consisted of cereal, yoghurt etc plus a full(!) english. Two rashers of bacon, 1 sausage (more of a hot dog type texture), 1 egg, beans and mushrooms all served on a tiny plate. 'We dont serve tomatoes, or Black puddings'. Our party consisted of two teenage kids, a few younger kids and one toddler. None of those were served mushrooms and when we challenged our dinner lady she responded 'We dont serve kids mushrooms, they never eat 'em so its a waste of money'!!!!! Surely we, as parents, should be the judge of that? Sorry kids, no veg.

Its a shame really because there were 14 in our party and this hotel had the potential to be so much better. It has a bar, a couple of pool tables which kept the kids entertained, games consoles and games etc. If it was not for the poor breakfast and telling off we'd have likely returned. Oh well, we'll try somewhere else next time.

“Overall pretty good stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2009

The service is brilliant. The owner was incredibly helpful and all staff we met were really friendly. The rooms are fairly basic. There's digital tv and en suite in every room. With 1 of our rooms, everything seemed to go wrong and things kept breaking.
It is about 5 minutes away from the Pleasure Beach and there's a tram stop right across the road so its easy to get to the tower and high-street.
There is a bar but during our stay it was not open and we were asked to use the one in the hotel next door.
If you want a basic hotel, basically just to sleep in it is perfect. Great value at £20 a night. However I wouldn't recommend it for long stays or for business.

“Not bad at all”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 May 2009

There being no room at my usual The Colwyn, I stayed at the skye next door which has also now incorporated the trafford. Have to say its a very good clean place to stay. Also impressed with the staff who are fun and friendly and work very hard they do it all from cleaning the rooms to serving breakfast. You wont be dissapointed here.
