“good service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

We recieved an email from the hotel advising us a pool competition would be on whilst we were there and did we wish to reconsider dates. We weren't able to, so wondered what we were letting ourselves in for. However, the hotel is spacious and apart from the smokers in the entrance, we did not notice the competition. Our room was 315 (overlooking the sea) and was very roomy, with a lovely large bed. We liked the decor, preferring places that have character, sitting in the lounge was very pleasant. Breakfast was great, cereals, fruit, cooked and continental. The staff really pleasant and obliging. I'd definately go there again.

Room Tip: get an up-graded room

“would reccomend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Just got back from a short two night break, room was clean and bright 1st night we had dinner which was excellent both for food and service, breakfast very good plenty of choice.Yes parts of the hotel could do with updating but its character makes up for this,It is not meant to be a modern hotel if this is what people want then book travel lodge.would deffinately go back .

Room Tip: ask at time of booking.

“Would not stay there again!”

I stayed in the Imperial at the end of January whilst on a business trip. The hotel was very very tired. At night I selected to eat in the bar area, the food was very very over priced and the menu was priced differently from that on display out side the door, which was a lesser price! The quality of the food was very very poor. The bar area whilst tired could have looked lots better if if was cleaned up, for example the mirrors behind the bar were in need of a good polish, thet were stained and dusty. Whilst my room was okay, the wardrope smelt funny so I choose not to hang up my clothes. The windows were the worst I have ever come across, the were rotten and had been stuffed with tissue papers, which was totally gross. I not opened the curtains to look outside I would not have seen this, I have taken photos which I will forward to my booking agent. Breakfast did not look to good, so I selected tea and toast only.

Since your visit to us, we have made a lot of changes, particularly to the windows, which have all either been replaced or repaired, and some of the bedrooms have been upgraded. “Very disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Planned trip as surprise present with theatre tickets so splashed out on sea view luxury room at £175 per night incl breakfast. Breakfast was best part! Excellent food and helpful staff. Room disappointing. Faded glory. Only a queen size bed, shower over tiny bath, not step in sort. Very noisy until 4 am as people returned to rooms, made worse by no soft closure fittings on bedroom doors. Worse still was fact everything is charged extra. Car parking AND toiletries. Only soap provided! And wifi also expensive. Not even complimentary papers. A rip off, to be honest. Very cross.

Room Tip: Don't know if there are any good rooms. We paid top price and didn't get one!

“Really impressed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Stayed 20th and 21st January 2012. Had a family room overlooking the promenade, it was large and spacious, clean and well equipped. The wind was dreadful all weekend so a bit of a draft through the window, but its an old building and kids loved watching waves crashing onto promenade. Hotel a bit dated admittedly and the some large cracks which had been badly repaired. However, the staff were very helpful and accommodating, in fact we asked for 2 bottles of milk for the baby and the girl on reception couldn't leave her post to get it. So she told me the manager would bring the bottles to our room and true to her word he did shortly after. The breakfast was adequate and there was plenty of selection. The kids liked the pool and spa area and it was very quiet often we were the only ones in the pool. Most enjoyable stay.

Thank you for your review. I was pleased to read that overall you had a pleasant stay with us. We have now got a children's playroom next to the leisure club, which is proving very popular with our guests. Hopefully we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back to see for yourself.
With kind regards. Nick
