My Girlfriend and I visited Terra Nostra in April 2012 based on its Trip Advisor reviews and its Number 1 Spot at that time.
Having dined at AJ's Bistro (then the number 2 spot) the evening before we were expecting great things.
Wowza, we were pretty underwhelmed by the entire experience. The restaurant is really more of a cafe style layout. The napkins are bright lime green paper ones, the menus are laminated, breadsticks on the table are pre-packaged in plastic wrap. Think pool side cafe in Spain and you will be on the right track.
For starters we had calfs livers for one dish, and chicken livers for the other. The calfs livers were very very good and the chicken livers were truly stunning. We thought we had judged the book by its cover because of the decor and couldn't wait for the mains.
I had the swordfish which was pricey at £20. It was not very well cooked and came served with very very underdone carrots and green beens. It was O.K but not a £20 main course for sure.
My girlfriend had Penne with a chilli based sauce. I am convinced the pasta came from a bag, if it was made in-house I would be very surprised. It was super chunky, quite dry and stodgy.
We were both gutted. Neither of us are fans of public confrontation and so we paid up and left. I have no idea how this gets rated so highly.
Finally the menu is pretty uninspiring and expensive. Beef Stroganoff is £20!
Would not go back.
