“Jim Rules”

This place seems to get relative bad press, but what do you expect for £15 a night. We have stayed with Jimbo a number of times and the blokes an absolute legend, understands the youth of the day and accepts stag booking. Hes a loverly Scot and would recommend him. Its worth visting his "Medicine Bar" for £1.50 triples.

“what a dump”

My self and my family, which consisted of myself, my husband, my 8 yr old son and my mother and father all went to blackpool for the illuminations for the weekend and had booked to stay at the astoria. Much to my horror when we arrived and saw the hotel which had been described in a local newspaper as a lovely sea front hotel with car parking facilities. the hotel was very run down outside and even worse inside, when we got in the smell inside was awful and the bedrooms were filthy with paper peeling off the walls, the bathroom/toilet was also filthy and the shower looked like it had never been cleaned and had no facilities to park the car the owner told us to use a nearby supermarket car park. Eventually we all decided that it was not the palce we wanted to stay fro the weekend and we therefore lost our deposit and had to find other accomodation as i could not let my son sleep there. I think the astoria should be looked at with the catering association of blackpool as the place is not clean and not well looked after.

“The Pits”

A group of us have just spent the weekend staying at above hotel.
External appearance - run down.
Internally-just as bad, horrible smell as we entered, carpets on landing loose. Only one en-suite room which we were fortunate to get!!!! Shower cubicle still had hairs in from last guest and needed a good scrub, cold water tap wouldn't turn off properly and no hot water unless you were willing to run tap for 10 minutes. Had to tune tv as only one channel working. kettle in room but no cups, tea, coffee etc. (maybe the kettle was to heat water for washing?) Sash window had obviously got stuck at some time as the bottom was filled in with about 3 inches of handy foam. Found a plastic chip fork on top of wardrobe, and other bits of rubbish down behind pipes. And so to bed, 3 of them in our room and they all had lumpy springs, ended up sleeping on top of quilt to prevent us getting skewered in the night.

Breakfast was ok, a bit meagre but then I didn't mind as I was worried about food poisoning, the large pot of tea had only one tea bag in it-( hot water and milk anyone?)
Rest of our group also said their rooms were disgusting and that the communal shower and toilet were filthy. can't believe we didn't complain.
The place resembled a D.S.S hostel and needs a thorough overhaul.
One plus point, there's a brilliant take-away right next door.
