“great place to stay”

I have stayed at this hotel for many years (even when it was the previous owner's, I go with a coach party) Since Vaughan took over the standard rose to a very high standard and it has never dropped. I always feel so welcome and relaxed when I am there.

the entertainment which is put on for us is good too.

I would recomend anyone to go to this hotel for aholoday, I have never been disappointed over the last 11 years

Stayed September 2004

“never again!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2006

we were given the old owners room with magnificent views of the bins and alley way. all the windows had frosted glass to obscure the view. very little natural light, only two square windows to open for air, complete with views of a brick wall.it was like being in a dungeon. the children were very upset at not being able to see the sea or the lights, nice bright red biffa bins though!
dodgy plug sockets eg, upside down or falling off the walls.
the bath room ceiling looked about to fall in, complete with several old rusty light fittings. the shower was a mixer tap job, minus a shower curtain(floor was flooded every time we showered).
tv just for show, no reception. decor dirty and shabby, curtains hanging off rails.
meal times do not cater for young children.
can't fault the staff, all of them were very friendly.

“A bit faded”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 March 2006

Booking system did not ask for a deposit but I was phoned later to get £25 per head deposit. Not a problem but would have been better if the booking system had advised that would be the case.

Arrival OK, entrance hall and public areas in good condition, reservation was in order.
Bedroom was ok but a bit cramped and needing an upgrade, marks on wallpaper, chipped paint, very small wardrobe, loose electric sockets, no remote for TV.
Could have done with somewhere to hang our coats.
Bathroom was clean, everything worked, decent shower. Signs of poor standard repairs (tiled top on cistern cabinet had been replaced with mdf).

Some noise during night from other guests arriving back from the pub at 5am.
Breakfast was promptly served but of indifferent quality / quantity, not a great choice either.

It isn't difficult to see why this hotel isn't winning Hotel of the Year now, it's better than other (cheaper) places we've used in Blackpool but doesn't quite justify the higher price (£61.50 for a double room).

“You must be joking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2004

When we stayed at the Royal Carlton - we found the service to be fantastic - the food was excellent and the service was beyond what anyone would expect. Above all - was the excellent welcome on arrival - with an efficient reservations team - who had no problem whatsoever in taking, allocating, and making us feel like we were staying in an extension of our own home. Forget big chain - or branded Hotels - The Royal Carlton is at the Top of its tree in the family-run bracket - and serves to provide the holidaymaker with a great stay at unbeatable value. Maybe the person who disagrees with this - couldn't book at the time due to the hotel always seemingly being full. Book with caution!!! YOU MUST BE JOKING - Book with the greatest of confidence and never look back
