Just returned from a two night stay and well - most of the staff = really nice, male night porter = rudest member of staff I have ever come across in my life (and that includes staff at places like McDonalds) Hotel freezing as heating wasn't working, 24 hour bar is not 24 hour as the night porter decides when he can and cannot be bothered to operate it. He was rude to our party and numerous other guests.
The hotel itself is not in a bad state, its clean and what more do you expect for <£30 a night? The only problem I had with the rooms was that we did not receive any fresh towels and our tea and coffee was not replenished, nor were our used cups changed for clean cups.
If the hotel sacked the night porter and sorted out their heating I would go back again as the location is great and the staff are helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: It is worth paying the upgrade for a superior room. The family rooms are also extremely large and ve...

Thankyou for your review, We take all reviews and comments seriously and improve where ever possible. The Heating system has been fixed and we did offer portable heaters to guests while we were rectifying the problem. We ask all guests to respect other guests, on this occasion your group made quite a disturbance. Therefore our Night porter was quite within his rights to refuse service at the bar. We welcome all here to the New Oceans hotel including families with children who were woken up by your group. When we collect and give out room keys we always ask if everything meets expectations. If you had told us what was amiss we would of done everything we could to rectify the situation. If you would like to discuss this further please do not hesitate to call us on 01253 346469

i stayed here over night for my partners birthday, for the price and what our needs were the hotel was fine. a bit shabby in places but the friendly staff made up for that.
one let down was the cleanliness of the hotel... dirty floors (hairy bathroom corners), make-up on the mirrors and bed linen on the floors as we arrived.
bed very comfortable, brilliant sea views, walk away from everything you need, and the had prob the best shower ive ever had!!!
would definatly stay here again

“Cold, unsafe and rude!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Me and a friend stayed at this hotel 10th Feb 2011. I would NOT reccommend this place at all!!!

We arrived from the outside it looked lovely and well cared for as soon as we walked in it was cold and dark and smelt of stale smoke, the receptionist was friendly when we checked in.

Once we found our room and went inside it was cold with a tiny radiator, I tried turning it up as it was cold but nothing, it didn't work. I went and complained the man on reception informed me that it had been turned on half an hour before and I asked if he could come and check the radiator. He came back with an oil radiator, this was adaquate but did stop working during the night. The decore was dated but they had installed a new bathroom which was nice, the only complaint is the bathroom had NO blind over the window and NO heating.
We never checked the bar out....
During the night there at 3am (ISH) me and my friend were woken by an argument as our room was above reception....this argument went on over half an hour, it was between a customer and a member of staff regarding no electrictiy or heating in their room. I found the staff member VERY rude as he was shouting at the guest, ok the guest was shouting at the member of staff but I can understand why, the member of staff was very unprofessional how he handled it.
Our room never had a safety notice in it to let use know the procedure incase of an emergency.
There were wires all over the place, coming through the ceiling etc.
I had no sleep in this place, it was awful and would not be coming back again, bad start to our (meant to be) relaxing weekend.
In the morning we packed our bags as fast as we could and left, I didn't want to even think about what the breakfasts would of been like or even what the kitchen would of been like going off the rest off the hotel....
PLEASE READ AND TAKE NOTE OF BAD REVIEWS, I DID READ THE REVIEWS AND JUST PUT SOME OF THE BAD REVIEWS DOWN TO BEING UNFORTUNATE BUT IN MY EXPERIENCE THEY WERE RIGHT!!!

We always assure guests that if they have any problems to let us know. We always do our upmost to give the best customer service. We have recently renewed our boiler system, rectifying the heating problem. We gave guests portable heaters when the system played up. Emergency precedures are in all rooms and fire exits are clearly displayed. We are in the process of refubishing all of our rooms.

“dreadful and dangerous”

Just arrived home from 2 nights at New Oceans Hotel staying with 3 friends all professional ladies in their fifties, the 'hotel' is in a dreadful state and very dangerous, most of the time no electricity, holes in the ceiling with wires and water pouring out and cables hanging everywhere. No heating in our room.
There is a very charming receptionist who had started work only the day before she tried to be very helpful and was really pleasant but no one seemed to be there to help her. Lets hope she finds another job soon.
This was the worst place I have ever stayed in and ruined our weekend
