My girlfriend and I come over from Prague every year for the Northern Soul weekender at Blackpool Tower in November. Over the last few years the B&B's that we have had have been a bit hit and miss despite what has been written on Tripadvisor.
But the Alumhurst meets it's reviews quite happily.
We had a standard double room on the 3rd floor. There is a lift in the hotel and on the landing of each floor there is an iron and ironing board which is a nice touch.
The room had the standard things such as tea and coffee facilities (and a hair dryer for the ladies!). There is also a flat screen TV on the wall that has all of the freeview channels.
There are parking slots out the front and I believe there are a few at the back of the hotel as well. Very useful seeing as there is no free parking anywhere in Blackpool.
We didn't eat in the hotel at night time or use the bar but if breakfast was anything to go by then I wouldn't worry.
Breakfast was a smooth operation as rather than the hotel owners doing all the rushing around and cooking they actually employ kitchen staff and waiting staff who were friendly and chatty but without being 'in your face'.
Fair breakfast choice with cereal, fruit juice, tea or fresh ground coffee and a full English that consisted of fried bread, mushrooms, bacon, choice of egg, tomato and beans along with basket full of toast. And it's not a 'set' choice either as I asked for 4 sausages, beans and a poached egg.
Location is good with the hotel being less than 2 minutes walk to the seafront and arcades and Tower but far enough away so that it is quiet at night time ( our room was street facing ).
So all in all a great little hotel that is welcoming and clean and not what you usually expect from a Blackpool hotel. Book it with no worries and enjoy your stay!
