“Hmmmmm... Not as good as it thinks it is.”
Booked in for 2 nights with our 13 yr old son and his mate. We were given a room for 5 people which consisted of 2 separate areas which would have been great....
BUT....
The double bed room was absolutely tiny. There was barely enough room to walk around the bed at each side. There was a chest of drawers at the foot of the bed and if you wanted to open the drawers, you had to sit on the bed. To see the Sea View you had to tip toe to look out of 1 of the 2 small windows, that had badly fitting curtains which let in a lot of light which, for me, meant not a great sleep. There was a small flat screen tv on the wall.
The children's area had a set of bunk beds and a single bed with a small wardrobe. Again, the room was tiny, with barely any room to move. A bigger/better window in here and a small flat screen tv which wasn't working properly (screen kept flickering really badly)
The en suite, again, it was really tiny but it was reasonably clean.
Breakfast was ok I suppose. Poor quality sausages and bacon (very fatty and was pretty undercooked) but a good selection of cereals and a bunch of bananas. Big pot of tea was served too, but on both mornings it was cold. Might be an idea to warm the pots first.
Now to the bar area....
I experienced exactly what everyone else is saying. We went into the bar and the woman and daughter looked up and the woman drew her breath as though we had just disturbed her. The man was sitting at the bar on his laptop and it was a good few mins before he decided that he better get behind the bar to get our drinks. We got our drinks (which were reasonably priced) and sat in the lounge. We then had to endure them moaning at each other about how they hadnt had their dinner yet and arguing about who was going to fone for a takeaway then they started talking about some guests that had left that morning and they laughed at some of the comments that had been left on their review cards. It maybe explained why no other guess were in the bar and it was why we didn't use the bar on the 2nd night. We finished our drink and headed upstairs with a comment from the woman along the lines of "has our arguing scared you away hahaha"
For the price we paid (£240 for both nights b&b) i felt a bit ripped off. I think we would rather have paid a bit more and stayed in The Big Blue Hotel across the road, which we have stayed in before and it was excellent.
