“Ignorant Manager”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

I stayed in this hotel with my family for a weekend. The hotel website pictures were misleading, I found the hotel more of a 3* and expected more for the nightly charge. The greeting by the manager was short and lacked in general friendliness. The room itself was tidy and basic but the bathroom was tiny and had a terrible smell. It was so small I could not even sit on the toilet comfortably I had to sit with each leg aside of the door frame, this is not practical but i thought I would cope for two days. The problems started on the first evening we ordered drinks for the family and after one drink of lager they had ran out and no bitter either. Then when we went back for more drinks the manager was nowhere to be seen, he had left to go to his other hotel across the road, in which my girlfriend went searching for him to get service. Health and safety states a hotel should always be manned this is NOT the case here!! We did not complain and I thought just a few glitches. At breakfast we asked the waitress for brown bed, she said they did not have any and my partner made a statement of saying this hotel is lacking in basic things, within minutes the manager came to us and said "we have no brown bread" and lifted his arms as if to say that’s that!! No apologies just walked off. We shrugged this off and went about our day. After a long day out we returned to the hotel and decided to go to the communal lounge to watch the x faxtor with the family. There were two TV’s here, the manager was near to one of them so we went and watched the other. As his TV was loud I turned the volume up so we could hear the show. After about 20 minutes he came to us and turned it down and said it was too loud. I explained that we couldn't hear the show as his TV was loud, which was the reason I turned it up and also pointed out there were no other guests in the whole area except us so we didn't see the problem. I would assume he would want to keep his guest happy, I was so WRONG he didn't care, he wanted the sound down for his own satisfaction (and he was only sat playing on his laptop anyway) I told him I felt the hotel lacked in customer service and gave him some constructive criticism, he become very hostile and loud. He was very defensive and became very angry raising his voice at me and my mother (two women). He said I had no right touching the TV and didn't listen to a word I said. What happened to the customer is always right ??!! He said I have to think about the guest which was a complete contradiction as the previous night he was nowhere to be seen. I said you are a host and you have no management skills and this is not good customer service, his response was "well if you don't like it pack your stuff and leave" and then he walked off. This Manager was rude, ignorant and only cared about taking your booking money and that was it. How he can remain in the hospitality sector is beyond me.... I feel sorry for anyone staying at this hotel as it's supposed to be a welcoming experience, but this manger had no manners or politeness about him. As for the health and safety issue.. well leaving a hotel because they are short staffed and cutting corners is in-excusable, would you want to stay here in the event of an emergency ??????? NO THANKS

“Dissapointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

4 Star no way. Hospitality to take your money and thats about all, kept waiting on the doorstep and then a quick run through on the hotel before asking for payment. The bar is open until midnight ran out of beer and then to top it up left bar unattended for 45mins while he was over the road at his other hotel, one of our party went over to see when we would be able to bye another drink also very expensive.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

Room Tip: Rooms very small

“Great Pans for the future”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

The Princess has some way to go to reach its goal, but I believe that the owners will achieve the standards deserving of 4 stars. I have mixed views and feelings about our 2 night stay and the upshot is, I would not stay in the same bedroom again. The bedroom was of a good standard but unfortunately the walls are not very soundproof. I heard every sound and movement from the room next to ours and as I am a very light sleeper anyway, found my few nights of rest - well you can imagine. The guests in the room next to us were probably not aware of the sounds we heard, creaking floorboards, drawers opening and closing, shower running, toilet flushing, talking and all the other sounds people naturally make. So after talking to Wally and listening to his plans for the future, I believe the room we were in may be changed altogether anyway. The bar and leisure area is spacious and very comfortable, although lacked atmosphere. It was nice talking to Wally and learning about how the Princess had been improved upon since their ownership, we can see the hard work this takes and given time when the new (super) king size beds, wet rooms, and other updates have been completed, we would like to return. Must also mention about the bonus of being able to park your car on-site, excellent. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful.

Room Tip: If you book a twin room because you are used to a big bed - ring the hotel first to check if the bed...

“Great all round hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

Easy to find and a great location. Its close to everything Blackpool has to offer! Tram stop a 2 minute walk away and onsite parking!
We arrived to be greeted by a man, he was very friendly and very helpful. Shown too our rooms which were lovely! Very clean and tidy. We went out for the evening and returned in the evening. The bar was quite and were asked if we had any specific tv choice to watch. The bar was very well priced and served a good verity of drinks. We then went to bed. Breakfast was between 9-15 and 10. It was a self serve toast/cereal and tea/coffee/orange juice. All unlimited! We then had a full English which was superb.
The man running this hotel is so friendly and very welcoming. I will be returning to this hotel in the near future! Excellent stay and service at a low price!

4 star .no way! a few clever photos on web site was no true reflection . Terribe greeting, tiniest shabby room overlooking scruffy car park. asked for a refund , if not pre paid i would have just walked out. none of the things you would expect from the most basic hotel , these would be a hospitality tray with at least enough coffee and tea for the 2 people in the room ,toiletries are usually standard. {we asked for these and was given 1 shampoo and 1 shower gel between us . Breakfast was 9.15 - 10.00 a do it yourself 2cereals ,toast , coffee from a flask. the full english was 1 sausage, 1 bacon , egg, beans ant tinned mushrooms.Just a money making rip off .the meanest ever . we love blackpool and will go back, there are plenty of great places. just not this one. Would we recommend. that would have to be NO !

Room Tip: look before you pay. we got caught out by photos
