When first arriving at Mylne Bridge House I did wonder why it was the 9th best b&b in Windermere however I swiftly realised this was only because the decor wasn't to my personal taste. It's a bit chintzy and dated however this really shoulnd't put you off (and didn't me, ultimately) as it was such a lovely and pleasant stay with all our needs tended to. I also soon realised that that's the sort of style in Windermere in general!
The double room we had was at the front of the house (room 2 from memory), which overlooked the road so there was a bit of noise from the pub opposite on the Saturday night but otherwise really quiet. It's a bit away from the town centre so that helps. The room itself was really spacious and both the room and bathroom were really clean. The facilities are excellent - TV (which I wouldn't normally watch when away but we enjoyed kids TV a couple of mornings!), fridge with bottled water and choc biscuits every day which was a really nice touch and the shampoo's etc were in normal sized bottles which I much prefer (I wish I'd known so I didn't take my own!) and the bed was gorgeously comfortable, which is one of the main things after all! Both my daughter and I slept really well every night.
She's 5 and they were really accommodating and welcoming with her, even taking her bike to their basement to ensure it was safe overnight. Which brings me to the main highlight of our 5 night stay; Jim and Lorraine are such lovely hosts, really warm and welcoming and are really proud of their b&b which makes you love it as much as them! They are very sincere in what they do. Jim, who is more front of house than Lorraine who is more behind the scenes, was always so helpful, not intrusive but always there when you needed help and advice (or even a little chat about your day, when he probably had other things to do!) all of which made us feel really comfortable during our stay.
We really, really enjoyed it here, it was like a home from home (but tidier) and I'd really recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Windermere and we would definitely stay again if we came back to the area. Thank you Jim and Lorraine for our wonderful stay.
Room Tip: Room 2 is really spacious and lovely.
