“Extremely welcoming, Friendly owners”

Booked this Guesthouse after many hours of looking for something special for a 50th birthday treat for my husband.Could not have chosen better. On arrival we were greeted by Trevor who offered us tea and biscuits which he took to our room for us.(room 11). The room was lovely, big and bright with flat screen tv, Dvd player and Ipod dock. tea coffee Choc and biscuits. Fridge for chilling wine or beer (more beer than wine for us). The bathroom was stunning, with a bath and seperate shower with the added bonus of underfloor heating, Bath robes and very very large fluffy towels. The breakfast was probably the best that we have had at any guesthouse we have visited, a good range of cereal, fruit salad and yoguarts but the star for us was the fell walkers breakfast, top quality ingredients setting us up for the rest of the day. The hawksmoor was perfectly placed half way between Windermere and Bowness. We will definatly be recommending this outstanding guesthouse to all those that we know. Trevor and Phillipa were the perfect hosts.

“Astoundingly friendly owners and staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Booked by my partner for a weekend break and he could not have chosen a better place, immaculately clean with incredibly pleasant, friendly owners and staff who did their utmost to make our stay perfect.
From the tea and biscuits offered immediately on arrival and carried up to our room (14) by Philippa as she happily explained the delights of the surrounding area) to the mammoth breakfast of every cooked breakfast addition you could wish for (they will happily just provide toast too if that's all you want) our every need was catered for with a smile.

The room was beautifully decorated with a fridge (handy for the champagne), bath robes, dvd, ipod dock and flat screen tv in both the bedroom and bathroom, which also had a large bath, separate shower, underfloor heating, enormous towels and some delightfully scented bath products. The bedroom has patio doors that open onto a small roof terrace with a table and chairs and views to the wood beyond, unfortunately it was just a tad too cold to spend more than five minutes at a time out there but it would be fab in summer.

There was no noise and even though the guesthouse was full we were not disturbed at
all. With free parking, free access to the local spa and situated midway between both Winderemere and Bowness, The Hawksmoor is the ideal place to stay and is now firmly on my "return again" list.

Room Tip: Room 14 has a balcony, perfect for balmy summer evenings

“Wonderful stay, great little touches”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Myself and my toddler stayed in Hawksmoor for 2 nights and we had a truly great experience. It's hard to know which B&B to pick in the Lakes, so we went with Hawksmoor on a friend's recommendation and I'm really glad we did. Philippa and Trevor were friendly and welcoming, and gave us a great room. It was the little touches that made this accommodation different; flatscreen TV and DVD player (with DVD library available, and Ipod docking stations and chargers next to the bed). The rooms were furnished to a high standard and were very comfortable. Great breakfast in the mornings too! We'll definitely be returning.

“Brilliant Guesthouse”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Stayed here a few months ago, and really enjoyed it.
Very clean, nice rooms (had under floor heating in the bathroom too...novelty :) We had a room facing the back, which gave us lovely views of the wood and river, beautiful.
It's well located, being pretty much exactly in between Windermere and Bowness, both within easy walking distance.
The owners are very friendly, without being pushy, or nosy. They make you feel very welcome.
Breakfast was great. I loved the big tropical fish tank in the dining room aswell, something very different.
With the added bonus of being able to use the nearby hotel's sauna and pool facilities for free (think it was a Best Western, can't remember now), we really couldn't have asked for more (or better) for our money.

This is a lovely guest house, the owners and staff where great.(stayed over Christmas)
This was our fourth stay and we have NEVER been disappointed.
All the rooms are excellent, clean, well maintained, and beautifully decorated.
There was plenty of free parking for all guests, and if breakfast is your thing then you wont go
wrong.(the full English is great and it will keep you going all day)
This is also a great location because you are close to Bowness & Windermere great for meals out of a night.
We would recommend this B & B to any one (TOP CLASS)
