“Good place to stay and value for money”

Stayed just for two nights at I felt like a good price for B&B £35 per night when I arrived at hotel I was greeted/shown round and offered a scone and cup of coffee, very nice touch. Had asked for single and they gave me a double as it was available, good service and idea that costs nothing more to them but I appreciated.
I was very happy with room it was at the car park level lower ground floor at the back which had a door right next to it to allow access to car for walking stuff and easy access to car I found this very useful so you did not have to walk through main part of hotel with any dirty boots clothing etc. The Breakfasts were of a good standard and well cooked the only negative thing was the very limited time window to have, I normally stay in big hotels and you have between 7am-930am to get your breakfast we were told 0830-0900 small window and missed on one day, my own fault I do not set alarms when on holiday. Lounge was comfortable and most usefully great range of OS maps and Wainwright books and a file with suggestions and contact numbers of things to do if required.
Location great and for those who would use train station 5 mins away Cinema 10 mins away and Lake Windermere 15 mins away. I found the staff to be very polite and attentive but had the right balance to not keep bothering you unnecessarily. (great key system you got one that opened your room and front and back hotel doors so you could come and go as you please) Will for sure use again in future

Room Tip: Noise not an issue any would be fine but if going for walking would ask for one leading onto rear ca...

Peter, Thanks for your review and we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us. For reference to future guests can I please though point out a couple of details that you mentioned. The rate of £35 is a weekday special offer that we have been running during November and December, the usual rate is £47 per night B&B. We also cut the breakfast times down as we find that we are quieter during these times so this is why we offered the 8.30 - 9.00 times, our usual breakfast times for the rest of the year are 8.15 - 9.30. We always welcome reviews here and appreciate you taking the time to do so, it is also good that you found our maps library useful. We look forward to welcoming you back to The Ravensworth. We have just returned from a two night break at the Ravensworth. It is beautifully clean, the staff are brilliant, and the breakfast is first class, the owners work hard to make the all their guests feel welcome. If you want a great place to stay in Windermere this is it. Thank you for a wonderful break.

“A wonderful place to stay”

First class establishment with the owners keen to please their guests. Room clean and comfortable (even if the 10.5 tog quilt was a little heavy for September). Super freshly cooked breakfasts. Well located and would advise going to Ambleside to take the Lake cruise as the parking is better. Will be back at some time to this well run establishment.

Room Tip: Our room (No 1) was quiet.

“First Time In Windermere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

We spent three nights at the Ravensworth in September, this was our first time in Windermere. We found the Ravensworth very welcoming, we were greeted with tea and scones on arrival which was a lovely and welcome touch.
The building, grounds and room were very well maintained and attractive and very clean.
The staff were very friendly and accomodating and always made you aware that nothing was too much trouble.
The breakfast was delicious (and i'm something of a conniseur of these things!) Our only issue would be that because of its popularity we always seemed to be too late to enjoy breakfast in the stunning conservatory! (note to selves - next visit make sure we make the early sitting for breakfast!)
We found it excellently located - only a matter of minutes to walk to the train station and bus stops, this was more than welcome after long days spent out exploring the area!

If we had to find a negative then it would be that our room was located down stairs which meant it was naturally a little dark, and the bathroom had no window.

PS look out for the amusing sign on the stairs down to the basement rooms!

Room Tip: Book early to get an upstairs room!
