My friends and myself stopped at the Miller Howe for afternoon tea while driving from Edinburgh to Manchester. Even though we were clearly younger than most other clientele we were treated amazingly respectfully. As others have noted, the surroundings and environment is absolutely postcard perfect, and we remarked on how one day, we should return and stay for an evening or two. The tea itself was spectacular with well made a plentiful selection of sandwiches and cakes, tea and coffee. If traveling through the Lakes District, it is definitely the place to stop for an afternoon break.
