“Stopped for a delightful tea”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

My friends and myself stopped at the Miller Howe for afternoon tea while driving from Edinburgh to Manchester. Even though we were clearly younger than most other clientele we were treated amazingly respectfully. As others have noted, the surroundings and environment is absolutely postcard perfect, and we remarked on how one day, we should return and stay for an evening or two. The tea itself was spectacular with well made a plentiful selection of sandwiches and cakes, tea and coffee. If traveling through the Lakes District, it is definitely the place to stop for an afternoon break.

“Perfection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

The most beautiful room with a stunning view of the snow-capped hills beyond the lake. Delecious food and delectable wine. The atmosphere completely charming, warm and welcoming.

“A delightful traditional Country House Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

A delightful traditional very comfy country house hotel with great food, fine wine and fantastic views. The staff are very attentive and the atmosphere and temperature is pleasantly warm. The grounds are very beautiful and there are spectacular views over the lake. The food is very good and the wine list extensive with a huge choice including some very special and expensive wines.
If you are able to buy wine by the bottle rather than the glass you will find some incredibly good value wines. A 50ml glass of sauterne is £6.00 but a 50cl bottle of the same wine is around £20.00.
Breakfast is a superb start to the day, but do not expect an early one. Looking forward to my next visit.

Room Tip: Try and get a view over the lake

“Birthday treat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Saturday, and as a treat to myself I decided to have lunch at Miller Howe. Having eaten there on previous occasions and never being disappointed my birthday treat was no exception.First a G&T in the lounge sat by the open fire looking out across the lake at the snow capped hills, then through to the dinning room which I had to myself. Cheese souffle , home made bread , chicken breast ,cheese coffee and petit four. Every course perfect, the service was excellent , cant wait for my next birthday.
