We stayed at the holbeck ghyll to get away from the children for a while. When we arrived the receptionist (lisa) was rude in her manner. We asked to book a taxi for later that evening to go to ambleside and was told that ambleside was not very good and bowness was better. No what you want to hear. The food was ok bit the service well o feel i wouuld get better on a greesy spoon. I will never stay at the holbeck ghyll again nor will i advise friends to stay there

Stayed for 3 nights for our second visit to this wonderful hotel. We stayed in room 20 which has an amazing view of the lake and a lovely four poster bed. Dinner in the restaurant each night was excellent and the breakfast was superb. The staff are exceptionally courteous and friendly and attentive to the guests at all times. This hotel achieves a top quality service but is relaxing and friendly. We will definetly return later in the year and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

We booked Holbeck Ghyll for a bit of luxury R&R and were very, very happy with our choice. The staff were amazing from the outset, helping us to settle in after our journey and upgrading us to a lovely room with a lake view (number 1) - thanks Caroline! The bed was extremely comfortable and we liked the Penhaligon toiletries in the bathroom - very in keeping with the Arts & Crafts charm of the hotel.

Unsurprisingly, the food was absolutely delicious and the staff in the restaurant were great - very friendly and helpful. We chose the set menu on both occasions and every single dish was perfect. Breakfast was plentiful too - with all the usual choices, but prepared with attention to detail and service to match.

A truly memorable stay and highly recommended.

Perched on a hill overlooking the lake, this small boutique hotel is your perfect place in the Lake District. Nice large suite with private garden or balcony, a kitchenette and a nice bed.
The food was outstanding both the breakfasts and the two dinners we had.
Retire around the fireplace after dinner for coffee and liquor.
We stayed in the annex which is like a cottage. There are also rooms in the main manoir.
Excellent laundry but also ironing table in the room.
