“We wish we could have stayed for longer!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We had a terrible journey to the Lakes after the train derailment just outside Milton Keynes so it was wonderful to arrive at the beautiful Braemount B&B! Emma & Gregor were out for the evening but had very kindly left us a complimetary bottle of wine and some homemade cookies to help us relax. Our room was beautiful with a contemporary take on vintage design and we instantly felt at home. Emma and Gregor are the perfect hosts and made us feel so welcome from the outset. The breakfasts are superb and set us up well for walking in the snow. We were able to have a good chat with Emma who has a lovely and warm personality and it seems as though nothing is too much trouble. The B&B itself is about a 10 minute walk from the gorgeous town of Bowness and the stunning Lake Windermere. We had a wonderful weekend and our only complaint would be that it just wasn't long enough! We will definitely be back to this B&B and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: We stayed in a superior room which was beautiful but judging by the breakfast room presentation I wo...

Thank you for that lovely review. It's been a truly spectacular week here with the snow's arrival and we're really glad you managed to make to most of it. Hope to see you again in Spring!

“Absolutely perfect...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

After an awful journey to the lakes, in heavy rain and rush hour traffic, we were welcomed by Gregor and Emma with fresh coffee and homemade brownies, which was was a delicious and much needed surprise! Our room was comfortable, clean and I fell in love with the vintage inspired decor, and the surprise rose petals on the bed! More than just the usual kettle, instant coffee and longlife milk, great attention has been paid to providing a pretty tray with kettle, nice china, teapot, caffetiere and 'proper coffee', aswell as being able to help yourself to fresh milk from the breakfast room throughout the day to use in your room. Emma and Gregor were helpful with suggestions for where to go for a meal, and the information book included in the room is very useful and well written. In the morning, Emma, knowing that the trip was to celebrate my birthday brought my breakfast with a candle to blow out! The breakfast was lovely, all freshly made and beautifully served. After a long walk around stunning bowness and windermere, we headed home. A special Thank you also for introducing me to the ascent of Rum doodle - after buying it shortly after our return, I have hardly put it down since!

Thank you for your lovely review. We're really pleased you enjoyed your birthday stay with us. As former commuters, we remember well the horrors of the M6! So when guests come through the front door looking tired and stressed, we love to see how quickly we can change those fraught expressions to smiles with a hot drink, home baking or a large glass of wine!
Our vintage re-style continues as we go forward & re-brand as 'Rum Doodle' B&B (hopefully by Easter) - so it's good to know our guests like what we're doing & appreciate all the little individual touches. Come back & see us again soon - we can have a chat about the book!

“Braemount House Yoga breaks are brilliant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

I'm booking my third yoga break at Braemount House because I've had such relaxing times on the previous 2 occasions. The yoga breaks are a brilliant combination of luxury at Braemount House with Emma and Gregor catering for our early morning and late breakfast needs, combined with fabulous yoga with Carolyn Ferguson in the Footprint building (National Trust) a short ride away. There's also time for walks and sightseeing. A perfect way to recharge your batteries. Roll on March!

Thanks for booking another yoga break with us. Carolyn's a great teacher & the Footprint building we use for the yoga is a truly inspirational setting. We love having the house full of yoga guests - there's always such a buzz about the place. We hope to have more yoga weekends coming up in the autumn.

“Very nice, highly recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

This accommodation is the complete package: our room (room 4) was very nice and comfortable, the breakfast was delicious, the location is a convenient half-way point between Bowness and Windermere, and there is also a quality and varied DVD collection! Above all else, the service was top class - Emma and Gregor are very nice and attentive hosts, offering sound advice on places to go and things to do. Wouls definitely go again.

Room Tip: Room 4 was nice and good value for money, though if you don't mind spending a bit more I hear th...

“We will definately be coming back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

We had such a lovely time during our stay in January. The hosts Emma and Gregor are so welcoming and we instantly felt at home! Tea and chocolate brownies on arrival (YUM) and it is definately worth paying a little extra for the suite room in the attic (room 9). The area is perfect, short walking distance to both Windermere and Bowness and the breakfast was delicious. Nothing was too much trouble and we really didnt want to come home! Thanks very much Emma and Gregor, we will certainly come back and recommend Braemount House to friends and family :) Tilly and Paul x

Room Tip: 100% worth paying a little extra for the suite room (room 9)
