I stayed here with my boyfriend and despite ringing ahead countless times to inform the owner that we would be arriving earlier than expected there was no answer on the phone and the door was opened by a child who pointed us in the direction of our room and then walked off.
We were later given huge amounts of attitude about our early arrival- it seemed it had hugely inconvenienced the owner, even though we had just left our bags and gone for a walk until our 'official' arrival time.
The owner held a grudge for our entire stay and chastised us for eating a sandwich in the communal breakfast area (something that was encouraged in the information and welcome pack), complained about us to other guests infront of us, moaned about our dietary requirements and ignored us when we rang the 'assistance' bell to ask a question (we could hear her quite clearly in the next room).
I was shocked at her treatment of us and would absolutely advise people to stay away unless they would like a relaxing break in the Lake District with abuse from the b&b owner!
The location is absolutely stunning, amazing views and perfect location for hiking. Unfortunately we could not enjoy our experience to the full as we were continually wary of our next encounter with the owner.
