This was our first visit to The Lake District and despite the weather Near Howe was the perfect accommodation for our requirements.

The cottage we stayed in was Howe End, which was very spacious and comfortable. The views are stunning, with cows and sheep in the nearby fields and the Cumbrian fells all around. It is an idyllic area to just relax and unwind. All amenities were well catered for accompanied with tasteful decoration and cleanliness. There is a superb stock of games, videos and books available during your stay to keep you amused. The cottage was well heated and very comfortable.

Tia, the owners beautiful dog will also afford you a friendly welcome. Keswick is only a 15 minute drive away in the car and Near Howe is only a short drive away from the M6.

On the whole, one of the best properties that we have stayed in and I would not hesitate to recommend it.

We spent three nights in the Sharp Edge (2 person) apartment with our 16 month old. We picked Near Howe specifically because it had a superking bed to fit all three of us. The bed was comfy, the bathroom was large, and the view from the kitchen table was excellent. Our daughter particularly liked being able to watch sheep grazing while she ate!

It took just over 10 minutes to drive into Keswick - and since we were driving to most of our hikes in any case, that didn't really matter. We enjoyed our stay, and Near Howe will definitely be on our list in future.

We stayed in the apartment for two and were amazed at the furnishings and size of our rooms. It was beautiful, the best we have seen in a vacation rental in our travels. The location is also beautiful, on a hilltop overlooking the valleys of Cumbria. It is an ideal location for visits to the Lake District and is less than 10 miles from Keswick.(I am surprised it does not come up if you search for locations in Keswick) A car is a must since it is located on a farm off a side road but it is perfect if you have a car.

Excellent accomodation - so good we keep going back! Located close enough to get to ameneties but isolated enough when you just want to chill and relax. The drying room in Saddleback Barn is a wonderful asset for all the walking kit. Steve and Jill's welcome is second to none. Wonderfully dog friendly. Having stayed in both the smaller cottages and the barn,each is of excellent standard. No mobile or broadband connections make you really switch off and relax.
