“Centre parcs half term”

This is probably our 16th time at one of the centre parcs. As usual a great time was had although it is always extremely expensive for a weekend break. Love the new lodges - dishwasher and grill broken and not fixed! Beds and bedding brill. I know they are trying to be enviromentally friendly but they do need to sort the terrible lighting in the lodges. Will return as kids even as they are getting older stll love it!

“Whinfell 2012”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

We stayed here many years ago when it was "Oasis". and brand new. Although changes have been made to the pool entrance area and lockers. Some of the facilities are looking tired. The outdoor pool area in particular had missing tiles and looked worned down. The overall cleanliness in the changing rooms needs looking into.I never saw anyone cleaning the floor on this visit, and there was an unpleasant smell near the entrance to the pool of sweaty feet.
We reported a rusty tea pot that leaked on pouring, but it was never replaced.

“A wonderful relaxing family weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

I say relaxing but what with playing tennis, badminton,ten-pin bowling and hours of swimming i have still come wanting more. We stayed in a two bed roomed lodge on foresters way which was clean, modern, quiet and felt immediately like home. We ate out every night and found Cafe Rouge by far the best food and service and Bella Italia extremely poor food and service wise. We did not go for bikes this time as it was too cold and we really didnt need them as we were a short walk from the center. Booking in was trouble free and booking activities on line prior to arrival is definitely the way forward. All in all you get what you pay for and we cannot wait to go back.

Room Tip: Although you have to pay to be nearer the center it will save on hiring bikes. Seven Oaks and Forest...

“another great stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

This was our twelfth visit to Center Parcs Whinfell. Children are now grown up but still came with us and there is plenty to do for all ages.

Tip - Go swimming on Friday evening if you are here for the weekend because that seems to be the quietest time. Presumably everyone else is still unpacking.

Exercise classes are ok but the tutor has to assume that everyone is a beginner so if you aren't you may be disappointed. Great way to find out if you like something to take up at home.

Pre-book restaurants before you arrive as they are always busy in school holidays.

“Not what we anticipated...”

Centre parcs had been recommended by friends and family visiting other parks. It took us 50 minutes to get from the Centre Parc drive to the accomodation - not fun with a toddler. We expected to be able to go cycling through the forest, and a fairly good level of accommodation. Disappointed on both counts. There is cycling around the accommodation only - when we asked about cycling we were told we could go to Whinlatter. The 'villa' was very tired and scuffed. The cooker did not work properly, there were holes in the bathroom ceiling, the DVD player did not work and there was a mess of cables underneath, and there was not a wooden spoon or sharp knife in the kitchen. (obviously not one of the refurbished villas).
What 'saved' it for us was the swimming pool - fantastic. Clean, warm, easy and well thought out.
A good range of activities, but expensive. Indoor and outdoor free play areas very poor. We may go when our little one is older, but will go to Sherwood or Longleat.

Room Tip: I guess ask them if it is one that has been refurbished

Thank you for taking the time to post.

It is disappointing to learn that you found the accommodation "very tired and scuffed" and only limited cycling within the Village.

We do aim to keep all accommodation units to an acceptable standard and do have a current refurbishment programme.

It is great to learn that you found the Subtropical Swimming Paradise fantastic.

I do hope that we may have the pleasure of welcoming you back to one of our Villages in the future.

Kind Regards
