Stayed here just to break journey home but what a great place in a good location. The room we had was large with a bathroom bigger than some bedrooms we have stayed in. Great breakfast at a reasonable time with plenty of choices. Just park the car and forget about it while you are there. I would definitely stay there again if in the area.

Having made a last minute decision (whilst shopping in Tesco) to take a short break in the Lakes we were extremely fortunate that due to a late cancellation we were able to spend a few days at Allerdale House. We booked at 11:30 am and arrived at 7pm the same day!

The plaudits Paul & Barbara receive are well deserved. Although not large our room was spotlessly clean and ideal for our needs. There was off road parking if required, it's an easy stroll into Keswick and the breakfast was excellent. The fresh fruit salad was actually fresh and not supplemented with tinned items as is often the case!

Paul & Barbara are wonderful hosts, being very friendly and helpful with advice on where to eat, ideas for walks etc. We will be back - although will not rely on a last minute booking next time!

The parking is very handy and Barbara came out to meet me which was a nice touch. Very friendly owners who willingly helped me with our bags to the top floor.

The room (Number 4) was quite small - once the cases are out, there isn't much space at all. The shower room is tiny, but everything you need is there and spotlessly clean - a triumph of compact living.

We missed breakfast. Please be aware that they only serve from 0815 to 0900. Be careful if you're late risers as we are (due in this case to a Julian Lloyd Webber concert at the excellent Theatre on the Lake where my partner was playing). Cereal was offered but by then I felt a little awkward! Note to self: read the information in the room...

I timed my walk to the Moot Hall in the centre of Keswick - five minutes. Very good location.

When you arrive you realise that there is a lot of competition between guesthouses in the immediate area. Allerdale clearly stands out.

This was our first visit to Allerdale House and thanks to Paul & Barbara it most certainly won't be our last! We have been trying to book in for quite a long time but it was always full as most of the time we tend be last minute. The location is perfect just short walk into Keswick plus private parking & the whole house is very tastefully decorated & well maintained. We had a warm welcome from Paul and Barbara with a tray of tea and lovely shortbread while we booked in! Our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable with really nice toiletries and hospitality tray included lots of different teas as well as the usual items. The breakfasts? All we can say is its one of the best, with lots of alternative choices. There isn't one negative during the 4 nights we have just stayed there. Would recommend it to anyone who wants a quality small B&B with owners who go the extra mile to make your stay as good as possible,
