“Service above and beyond”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

We stayed at Brookfield for a few days as part of our xmas run round the country to see our families. As a result we had a car full of presents. Ronnie not only provided us with one of his own rooms to store them in on ground floor level and so we didn't clutter up our own room he then assisted us with carrying them in and out of the B & B when we arrived and left. Top service! He also gave excellent advice on drives out, where to eat with a dog in tow and cooked a top class breakfast. Marvellous! Thanks Ronnie.

Room Tip: Ask Ronnie, he will tell you his best rooms in a an honest manner

“Excellent B&B whether you are a walker or a sightseer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

A truly excellent B&B (and we've stayed in a few) with smashing breakfasts and Ronnie, who runs Brookfield, is kind and helpful. He has a wealth of local knowlegde and is thoughtful too. Our plan was to go walking and we had a wonderful time but fought our way homeward to Brookfield one day through sleat and snow arriving soaked through. Ronnie dried all our kit and gave us tea and biscuits too by the woodburning stove in the dining room. It doesn't get much better than that. Our ensuite bedroom was a good size, warm and well furnished and very comfortable and queit. We had a lovely view from our window. We shall certainly be back for more.

“Brookfields Guest House”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

Sorry I deleted the original review so I could make another review the next day and forgot all about it :D

The weekend was great, I decided to take my Grandma and her dog for a weekend away to Cumbria as she has never been north further than Skegness from Nottingham!, the location was great for us for access just off the A66, theres no car park at the guest house itself which can't be helped and limited amounts of parking on Penrith Rd but theres a road opposite that runs off Penrith Road, this road is wide enough only for parking on 1 side and was nose to tail when we got there around 9pm, I found a space up just past Fieldside Close.

When we got there Ronnie was great he showed us areas we could go and made us feel welcome, just down the road theres a pub called Twa Dogs Inn that allows Dogs into part of the pub as long as she was kept on a lead and we both ( + the dog was happy ) had a good meal there on the first night, in the morning we had cerials and orange juice followed by a full english and tea which was very filling, if you are planning a day out walking theres the option also for a pack lunch to take out with you on request which is a very good touch.

The room and en suite was clean and warm, the colour scheme was a bit loud and in a Victorian style which didn't hamper our stay but for people that prefer a more subdude colour scheme to wake upto then room 4 isn't the one, there are other rooms though and they appear to be diferent throughout.

the Internet access was fantastic and very fast, I took my laptop with me and a Broadband dongle but having tried the wi-fi there it blew the dongle out the water and I ended up packing the dongle back into the bag, it's very handy for searching for things to do on the fly when the weather in the UK can be completely diferent from forcast the previous day.

When we decide to have another weekend away we won't hesitate to visit Brookfields again :)

Cheers Ronnie

Excellent B&B, very clean, central location and great host. Ronnie was extremely helpful in all ways and prepares one of the best breakfasts in the UK. This was my second visit at Brookfield, and will definetly stay there again if I am around.

Room Tip: All rooms are wonderful.
