“Deb and Keith are best.”

We traveled the UK for three-plus weeks starting in York, then to Edinburgh, Inverness, Isle of Skye, Keswick, Conway and ending in Chipping Campden. Even though we had great hosts and hostess at all the places we stayed, Deb and Keith were our favorites. Winning us over all started when we decided to drive to Keswick one day earlier than our reservation. We called Deb and found out that she was fully booked that evening but made arrangements for us to stay at her sister's B&B, The Beckside Guest House, which was very nice as well. The Dunsford House has convenient parking behind the house and the location is right off the main street of Keswick. The location is quiet but you are right where you want to be. Deb and Keith purchased the place not that long ago and they are perfect hosts. The rooms were very clean and comfortable but do need a little updating, which Deb says they are going to do this winter. Breakfast was great. We are already planning a return trip to the Lake District and we wouldn't consider anyother place (except maybe a night with Tracey, Deb's sister, at The Beckside Guest House).

“Sorry to leave”

Sorry its took so long to write our review!

We booked the Dunsford to have a bit of a wind down after the Solfest Festival (August Bank Holiday weekend) - informing Deb and Keith we would require the 2 p.m arrival as we would desperately need showers and a rest by then! They contacted us to advise us to ring on the morning of the arrival day to see if they could get a room ready any earlier. Well, by 10.30 we where shown to the sumptious Grasmer room, tea, cakes and biscuits where brought up to our room by Deb and we immediately began to feel civilised again.

The upkeep of the rooms and the home are outstanding. Attention to detail is first class, as are all the little touches such as mineral water etc. Location is very good also, you are into Keswick town centre once you reach the end of the street. Fitz Park is at the other end, giving acces to Latrigg (1 1/2 hours up and down before tea?) and Skiddaw.

The service at breakfast was faultless (thank you Charlotte) and the quality of breakfast was oustanding (thank you Deb, we noticed the subtle extras each day, such as the squirall shaped toasty, potato pancake etc). The choice was also great, especially the choice of fruit each morning, again, something different available each day.

We also enjoyed our chats with Charlotte and Deb each breakfast, who always seemed genuinly interested rather than just making idle conversation and both where always bubbly and attentive without being intrusive. This contrubuted to making this probably the most enjoyable B&B stay that we have ever had. It will always stay in our minds, that on our day of departure, Deb and Charlotte met us at our car to wish us well and both sent us on our way with a hug (no extra charge). We left, feeling that we had actually been staying with friends!

So, please, when you finish reading this review just contact Deb and Keith and book a room while you can. I gurantee you will enjoy your stay and will wonder why you had'nt done so sooner.

“Wonderful little guest house”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

We spent two nights at the Dunsford Guest house and can not fault it. The room was very comfortable and very, very clean. We particularly liked the thoughtful touches such as bottles of mineral water and fresh fruit in the room. The breakfast was excellent with fresh fruit salad, sliced fruit as well as cereals and yoghurts to start. This was followed by a full english breakfast if you wish and toast. I asked for a poached egg on toast one morning and it was no problem, in fact nothing was too much trouble. We were even given milk to take out on our walk so we could make tea, they even offered to fill our flask. The location is great for exploring the Lake district and being in Keswick centre perfect for a night out. It also has its own car park which is a bonus as parking in Keswick can be a problem. Our hosts were very friendly and could not be more helpful.

“The only change, its even better”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

We've been going to the Dunsford Guest house for a number of years. This was our first visit with Deb & Keith as the owners.

It’s always been good and I'm glad to say it still sets a very high standard. The rooms are clean, Deb & Keith very friendly and the breakfast excellent.

With free car parking and within a couple of minutes walk from the centre of Keswick it’s ideally situated. We will be going back.

My only comment would be slightly too much fabric softener in the towels.

“Absolutely top notch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2011

We have just returned from 3 1/2 weeks in Britain, and Dunsford Guest House was definitely a highlight. We stayed 3 nights and would have stayed longer if we could have. Deb and Keith are brilliant hosts, and made our stay so pleasant with their helpfulness, suggestions on how best to get to places we wanted to see, and even help in solving a parking ticket problem! The room was sparkling clean and lovely with all the little added extras to make it feel like home, and was quiet, yet close to the centre of town. Breakfasts were not only delicious and complete enough to keep us going all day, but also a lot of fun as we talked with the other guests.
