“Shelter from the storm!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We we're trying to stay with family in Ambelside but the snow made it impossible to make it. So with no where else to stay we journeyed into Keswick (which bizzarley had hardly any snow) and found the joy that is Laurel Bank. Lucky enough to nab the last room, our wonderful host showed us to a very comfy 3 person room and made us feel right at home. The breakfast was simply perfect! I can not stress enough how lovely we found the hosts!
Thank you!

“Excellent bed and breakfast - perfect stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

We stayed at Laurel Bank during the 2011/2012 new year period in the downstairs room. We found our room to be spotlessly clean with a great shower and really nice, warm bedding. Slept well each night, found the location to be very peaceful.

The bed and breakfast itself had a really welcoming and friendly atmosphere and was in a good location for walks into Keswick along the disused railway line. Loved the breakfast - surprising amount of choice and really accommodating hosts. Laurel Bank was the perfect place to welcome in the new year - we would definitely recommend it to others.

“New furniture”

We visited Laurel Bank again, in September 2011, and still found it very pleasant and clean B&B with welcoming hosts. We only stayed for 1 night this time and had a big room on the second floor.
Rodney said that since our last visit they have changed the furniture to new. I took a few pictures, you can see for yourself.

“Great breakfasts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

We stayed at Laurel Bank for 2 nights in October and were really happy to have found such a friendly place. We had a very warm welcome from Rodney and his wife Margie. The atmosphere of their home is very relaxed and no questions about the area go unanswered. The room was spotless and the bed very comfortable. We slept very well here. The room was quite small and the next time we come we would take one of the bigger rooms but for 2 nights this was fine. The breakfast the first morning was enormous, tasted fantastic and we didn't need anything else until evening. The second morning we had ordered poached smoked haddock and egg. It was great-tasted really fresh and delicious. I have only one little suggestion: it would be nice to have the jam and marmelade served in open dishes instead of the little plastic containers. Apart from that, no 5 star hotel could do better!

Room Tip: If you are travelling with bigger suitcases and staying for more than 2 nights, ask for one of the l...

“Laurel Bank B & B - On our honeymoon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2011

What a great start to our week, We travelled up from the midlands for a two night stay after our wedding as my lovely wife had never been to the Lakes, Great weather & views. Rodney & Margaret were the perfect hosts. The breakfast was a excellent start to the day, together with the immediate surroundings, certainly a home from home, Rodney was also very helpful when planning our visit and drive around the lakes. Both, room and en-suite were spotless and the bed was very comfortable. Tea & coffee making facilities available in the room and LCD Digital TV with integrated DVD - great for those you who stay longer and not so fortunate with the weather as we were. Safe off street parking was a bonus! - The location of Laurel Bank was great for walking and exploring the area, the old railway cutting was an enjoyable walk and seemed to cut out the steeper road route there and back to the town. you will not be disappointed with Laurel Bank and its Hosts. - we are already planning a return trip - Our overall impression, exceptional! - Steve & Sue H.

Room Tip: Ground floor room used - easier access for mobility issues
