After a long drive from Norfolk to the lakes, we were greeted at the door with warm hospitality and everything we needed for our stay. The room was a very pleasant surprise, spacious, clean, ensuite bathroom and amazing views to wake up to each morning. Breakfast was a delicious daily ritual setting us up for our long walking days, accompanied by wonderful wildlife at the patio door. Red squirrels, birds and even a rabbit hunting fox! we saw it all. I wouldn't hesitate to go back to Spooney Green, with all of this beauty you would expect to pay a fortune but it is extremely reasonably priced. Thank you for having us Sandra and Ian and hope to see you again in the future.

Absolutely no complaints. We were looked after very well, had a very cosy room and enjoyed delicious breakfast accompanied by a myriad of birds, a fox and red squirrel. I would come back here again and again. Superb views, very convenient for getting into Keswick and easy to find.

This is a beautiful B&B and exceptionally good value for me. Sandra and Ian were wonderful hosts. The bedroom was lovely: cosy,spotless and boasting magnificent views. Down the corridor we even had a complementary glass of sherry! And the breakfast was delicious - beautifully prepared and presented with home-made yoghurt, honey from Sandra's bees, blueberries from the garden, bread by Ian (really delicious bread!), home-made jam and perfectly poached egg from Spooney Green's hens. A mark of real quality is how well an establishment poaches an egg - and these were perfect: the white perfectly cooked but the yolk still runny and indulgent. Best of all we got to watch the red squirrels through the french windows feeding on the patio as we ate our breakfast. We went for a couple of nights break during half term and returned refreshed and delighted. We will be returning - with family and friends! Well done to Sandra and Ian. And thank you for a lovely stay.

We loved the location, which is away from the town and village centres, at the end of an un-made road, half-way up a hill. It's well suited for a short drive into Keswick as well as a hearty walk up to the top of the local hill, from which the views are lovely.
Our bedroom looked out over the garden out to the hills. It's worth noting that the main A road could be heard in the distance, when the window was open, as well as the lights of passing traffic but this proved to be relatively insigificant to our enjoyment of the accomodation, which suited us well - clean, comfortable and cosy without feeling like a generic hotel. We couldn't get any tv channels, which I seem to recall may be a reception issue (I'm sure Ian and Sandra will either correct or confirm this), but we did receive the main radio stations, The wireless broadband also worked well and happily streamed BBC iPlayer for us to vary the r&r in the evening.
Ian and Sandra were excellent hosts. The breakfast was varied, excellent and filling, which set us up very well for the day. We also bought some of their home-made honey. We had no real quibbles and found that our hosts responded very positively to a couple of minor problems we found with our room.
We could not have asked for much more and will look forward to future stays. We can give no better recommendation than that.
