“Lovely B&B - Great Hosts!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

Just got home from a weekend in Keswick where we stayed at the Glencoe. Lovely B&B. The owners were lovely, room basic but clean, biscuits and tea in the room (very nice teabags as well!) Very close to town centre and we managed to get parked outside.

I can tho congratulate on the brekkie, probably one of the best I've had and really set us up for the day walking on Saturday. Our flask was filled for us too.

All in all really good value and as they took the dog as well even better. One that we'll remember and return too...

“Great prices and owners”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2011

My first trip to Keswick was made even better due to the invaluble advice of the owners of the Glencoe guest house, about local weather, footpaths and mountains, and places to eat etc, etc. Very good rooms at good prices, good sized and tasty breakfasts too ! Karl and Teresa are very genuine and freindly people who love the outdoors. The guest house is situated perfectly, close to the town centre but on a nice quiet street. I was there 5 nights and was very sad to leave, I can can see myself going back many times.

“Just perfect!”

The owners, Teresa and Carl are lovely, very friendly and helpful. The B&B is the perfect base from which to explore Keswick and beyond, being only at most a 5 minute walk away from the town centre. If you're commuting to Keswick via train, there's a bus stop directly outside Penrith train station and the bus stops at a bus stop just a 5 min walk from the B&B, which is handy. Our room was spotless, the tea and coffee facilities (and supplies, with biccies) were a nice touch. The bathroom was brand new and very posh. Comfortable beds and a view of the fells from the window. Breakfast was nice too, full english with tea/coffee/juice etc, also the option of cereals. We spent two nights here and would definitely stay again, in fact I wouldn't stay anywhere else :-)

“Nice Guest House”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 May 2008

Stayed at the Glencoe for 2 nights in May 2008. Not being able to find any reviews on this guest house was a bit worrying but any such fears on settling in were soon dispelled.
The 2 rooms we booked were spacious and very comfortable and we slept well on both nights. Didn't need the heating as fortunately Keswick happened to be the warmest part of UK during our stay. Showers in both rooms (no bath) but they were in good order (good water flow),

Breakfast was of a very good standard. The landlady was very friendly and helpful. Only two very small minus points:
Parking was difficult but spaces in adjoining streets if required (looks a safe area, this is Keswick!). Need to take your own tea bags, the ones in the rooms/breakfast weren't very good.

Definitely recommended and would certainly go back.

  • Liked — Friendly host/location/food
  • Disliked — Parking adjacently may be a problem.

I am glad you enjoyed your stay and would recommend us. We support fair trade and use fair trade products where possible, I am sorry you did not like the tea bags but if you stay again let us know and we will get in a different bag for you to try. Our aim is to ensure all our guests enjoy their stay. With regard to parking, unfortunately we cannot guarantee a space immediately outside the front door but there is always a space nearby, Keswick has the bonus of a very low crime rate. Hope to see you again at Glencoe Guest House.
