On arrival at The Sonata keys, parking permit and friendly note awaited us. This is a friendly, cosy house and Mr Wilkinson appears to have relinquished his living room for use by his guests, to add to their comfort. He provided help in the shape of a map of the town and recommended places for us to visit..
Our rooms which were on the top floor were spotless, with crisp white sheets on the beds and pleasant views from the windows.. As a previous review mentions, the staircase IS somewhat narrow and steep, but this is an old house and these presented no problem to us at all. The bath and shower room were also immaculate
i am delighted to report that the breakfasts were beautifully and speedily produced with charm and good cheer from our host and were among the best I have tasted ANYWHERE, whether it be a guest house or first class hotel. The menu was varied and even the coffee very acceptable - not often the case in such establishments. Everything on the plates was piping hot, non greasy, well cooked and a pleasure to eat. It certainly held us in good stead for many hours.
I understand that this guest house has been up and running for many years and it must be a difficult task to maintain the high standard which has been achieved. it is my opinion that its four stars are well deserved!. .
