“A Wonderful New Year Celebration!”

My wife and I spent New Year at Beechmount. This was our first visit but definitely not our last! We arrived on the afternoon of the 30th to be greeted by Garry and Denise and immediately were made to feel so welcome. A pot of coffee was immediately produced with a delicious bakewell tart whilst we relaxed after our journey in front of the roaring sitting room fire. The house is beautiful with lovely light rooms and antiques and was decorated for the Christmas holiday which added to the atmosphere. Our room, the Esthwaite suite, was again light and airy with stunning views over Esthwaite Water and the distant Langdales. Having its own sitting room was a real bonus. Lots of thought has gone into the rooms and to make guests feel at home. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts from champagne glasses being made available to us and fresh milk in the guests fridge together with beer provided! On returning from our gala dinner at The Queen's Head on New Year Eve, Garry offered us a celebratory drink which was so very kind.
Breakfast is at a sensible time between 8.00 and 9.00 a.m and is cooked to order having filled in an order sheet the previous evening. All cereals together with grapefruit and prunes and a large jug of orange juice and plenty of toast is provided.
Garry and Denise made us feel so welcome that we did not wish to leave and we hope to be back in April when we shall be able to enjoy the stunning garden.
This is a lovely gentler part of the Lake District which over many years I have got to know well and our memories of this visit will remain for many years thanks to the kindness and hospitality of Garry and Denise.

“Fantastic place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

This is the best B&B we have ever stayed in. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners Denise & Garry. The house is beautiful, a lovely log fire to sit by ( and we really enjoyed it as we had constant rain)
We watched how well children were accommodated and would recommend this place for anyone of any age.

“wonderful gardens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

Happened upon this marvellous place by chance - while waiting for our time slot to visit Hill Top Farm. Only stayed for tea in the Summer House. Will definitely consider staying here next time round. The garden is just marvellous. The atmosphere really tranquil - was very reluctant to leave. My daughter had a wonderful time taking pictures of all the varieties of flowers in the garden.

“A truly exceptional place. Recommend it to anyone.”

We love the Lake District and have been searching for a place to stay since we have had children - now we have found it!
We received a warm and friendly welcome and a much appreciated drink in the lovely garden on arrival. The interior is really nicely decorated and both the larger rooms have nice views over the countryside. The view from the Esthwaite suite is especially lovely - it looks towards the Lake and the Coniston and Langdale ranges of fells.
The owners, Garry and Denise are really friendly and make you feel at home from the off. They were very good with our two boys who were given lots of toys to play with during the stay. Beechmount is also opposite the village playground which we visited often.
Overall I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing break in a gorgeous part of the world. We will definitely be returning.

Room Tip: If you have children then the Esthwaite room has a separate lounge where parents can relax while lit...

“Lovely B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

We were greeted with coffee and cake which was a lovely welcome and gave a very good impression. Beautiful views of the lake from our room. We had the freedom of having the house and garden to ourselves - what a gorgeous garden and picturesque summer house! The icing on the cake has to be meeting the two westies, Jock and Paddy, who were absolutely adorable, and very well behaved! Breakfast was fine, but limited choice of cereals and no yoghurts. What was very welcome though was the thoughtful supply of bottled water kept in the fridge. Can't fault this B&B, except to say that parking is a little bit difficult, but that is only a tiny detail. An otherwise perfect stay. :)
