We have been visiting Buckle Yeat for a number of years, but it never fails to be a wonderfully special experience.
Our last visit was in October when we (2 adults, small child and 2 teenagers, and my parents) managed a long weekend away.
The drive up to the Lakes was filled with excitement - looking forward to everything the area has to offer, and particularly to getting settled in at Buckle Yeat
As ever we weren't disappointed. A lovely welcome from Robert & Helen, and the wonderful smell of the open fire as we stepped into the living room
The bedrooms are lovely - clean, fresh, and comfortable (the bed linen smells divine!), with lovely home made biscuits, tea and coffee making, bottle of water, and nice toiletries.
There's lots to do in the area, with or without children (we've done both!) small playground in the village, pub, walks, Tarn Hows (lovely lake walk), Hawkshead, etc
Days out are lovely, but for me it's the coming back to Buckle Yeat at the end of the day thats the best bit. It's such a haven - calming, relaxing, welcoming. Boots off, wine out, and a chance to catch up with that book i've been meaning to read!
The evening is a great chance to catch up with other guests who want to share stories of their day - making new friends, and occasionally catching up with old friends. Whilst there's a mix of visitors at Buckle Yeat, they all seem to have something in common - an open friendliness that leads to great conversations and shared glasses of wine!
After a great night's sleep it's time to head to the dining room for breakfast. Hmmm, yum! Fresh warm bread rolls, choice of starters (delicious porridge is my favourite), then it's a choice of main course (amazing full english), all washed down with fresh orange juice and tea or coffee, oh, and the endless toast. Really sets you up for the day!
There's something special about Buckle Yeat, something rare. A combination of good people and wonderfully relaxing surroundings. It's like having your batteries supercharged. Somehow a long weekend feels like you've been there a week - a priceless feeling when you've been very busy.
Try it, you won't be disappointed (apart from having to leave!)
