I have visited Sawrey Ground on several occasions over the years and I have at last decided to write a review! I am not sure about the dates when I have stayed so take the listed date with a pinch of salt.
Mike and Gill do a wonderful job of welcoming people and attending to the details that make for a good stay. It can be hard to find a free slot to book a visit as they have many repeat visitors.
Sawrey Ground, a 17th century farmhouse, is ideally situated to explore the southern part of the Lake District and maybe further afield. It is tucked away down a short lane leading from a minor road. One benefit is the immensely relaxing sense of peace and quietness. There are a number of walks from the house including a footpath across some fields and down to the lovely lake called Tarn Hows which is simply stunning in autumn colours.
The house has 3 bedrooms in the main house plus a small cottage attached which would be ideal if on a walking holiday. I have always stayed in the main house and everything is immaculate there. Mike and Gill specialise in attention to detail, and cleanliness is faultless. The perfect hosts they will go well out of their way to make the difference that makes a difference to your stay. Mike has usually cooked breakfast for me on my visits and each time it has been superb. Homemade bread, and delicious looking healthy options or my favourite a full English cooked breakfast is always spot on!
In terms of amenities I haven't used room service or the internet but I am guessing they do the extra to make sure guests are content. Their website says they are in the top 20 of 3000 on the AA's 3000 listed B&B and I am not surprised.
Heartily recommended.
